View Full Version : Transmission - 1st to 2nd gear shift
I've had my Prowler for several months now. Alls well. Love the car. The shift from 1st to 2nd seems a little rough to me. Not a "clunk" or a"thud" but harsher than my other cars. Is this normal operation? If not, what should be done to correct? Does anyone have any thoughts on this subject? Thanks!
Hi Jim,
FIRST OF ALL........WELCOME to the forum !
Now, to answer your question - personally I had the VERY same
impression when I drove the Prowler for the first few thousand miles,
ESPECIALLY the shift from 2nd into 3rd under minimal acceleration was
TOO hard for my taste and I worried a bit but after talking to several
other owners and finding out that the 'hard shift' is as common as
the looks you get driving by I felt better.
NOW about 14.000 miles later I gotten used to it and enjoy it just as
anything else about Prowler !

Thanks for the quick response. I'm starting to feel better already.
I should have stated earlier that I purchased a pure stock 2001 Orange with 7,400 miles. It now has 8,400 miles.
Thanks, again for the response!

Welcome Jim!!
I think Norm can chime in here. We actually did a test between a 2001 vs a 1999 in terms of acceleration and gear shifting.
The 2001 shifted earlier from 1st to 2nd
The 1999 shifted earlier from 2nd to 3rd..it stayed on 1st for a longer period of time.

Welcome Jim, orange is a great color. Chwee was right about the shifting on the two Prowlers ( black was fast ). I think I even get a harder shift with the new gears on the orange but I really love that shift.
