I just got back from the East Coast and I spent the flight back thinking about your adventure. What a great way to see the country . . . I'm totally jealous! I can't think of a better pair of Ambassadors to represent the Left Coast. Have a great time, take tons of pictures, and we'll all plan to meet and check out your new ride upon your return.

(Hey, maybe a welcome home BBQ is in order. We're also thiinking of starting a regular Poker game so we can lighten Sherman's money belt and help him break the habit of buying so many mods for his Kat!:-)

Hey DC, I haven't gotten around to installing the wonder bar yet, but hope to find time next weekend. Since I last saw you, I've also gotten a pair of crossdrilled and slotted rotors from RotorPros, and the silver caliber paint kit. I'm going to try and do all three mods at once, so I'll probably need a full weekend to get it all in. I'll post pics when it's done. Say "Hi" to Jenn for me. See you soon!

hey Scott,

The rotorpros rotors will only take 45 minutes tops for both sides....
If you are painting the calipers it will take some time to get 4 coats of paint on, you have to let each coat dry between applications....
its a breeze, once the wheels are off the calipers only have two bolts each....and the look of the drilled/slotted rotors is awesome !

Thanks for the timeline, Halicat. I feared that it would take some time for the paint to dry.

I had to use a different kit than Dupli Color because my two local Pep Boys and Auto Zone had only Blue and Black in stock. After I did a Google search I landed on the G2 brand
http://wheelskin.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=G2_Brake_Caliper_Paint. It sounds like the same stuff but it comes in Red, Yellow, Blue, Silver, Black, Purple, Green, White, and for Incas out there, Gold. I received the silver kit last week. I'll let you know how it works out.

I'm glad to hear the rotor swap-out goes quickly. I'll do that and the calipers first, then mess with the Wonder Bar while I'm waiting for the various coats to dry.

Scott, make sure your calipers are super clean. If not fish eyes will appear. I used brake cleaner for the job.

Day One Report:

Took a red-eye to Wilmington with transit in Charlotte. Picked up the car, seller had the following in his collection:

69 GTO hardtop
66 GTO conv
81 Mercedes 380SL conv
Sorry, no pics of them cuz we were so tired from the red-eye and wanted to just get to a bed in Chattanooga ASAP. Put the bra on the car and went west. After 529 miles, we were in TN right before midnight.

The weather was purrrfect, although just before we met at the hotel
it rained a bit and I was worried it could become a wash-out but the weather was JUST right to do our little tour on top of Lookout Mtrn. !

What we didn't mention is the reason why Norm has that track-ready S2000...he does crazy drifts in the NM desert with it! :wink:

I could not find a photo of the Fast & Furious poster he has in his garage..but I bet he was one of the 'stars/drivers' in that movie..maybe he was the stunt-driver for Suki?
