NEW YORK — A dissatisfied purchaser of a Roush Ford Mustang has filed a class-action suit, claiming Roush Performance Products built twice the number of "limited edition" Roush Stage 3 BlackJack Mustangs (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=119655) it had claimed it would.

Drew Conner of Bardonia, New York, bought his Stage 3 BlackJack in April 2007 for $58,846.25, The Wall Street Journal reports. The 2007 Mustang came with a number plate saying it was the second of 100 to be built. The complaint is over the fact that a second group of 100 was released in 2008.

Connor's complaint says the value of his and others' Mustangs "from scarcity and as collector's items" will be "dramatically less" than expected because of the additional cars produced.

Enthusiast Web site Mustang News.com published a commentary noting that "many Roush Mustang owners have been vocal...that the value of their cars has been diminished because they see another new special-edition Roush Mustang every other month." However, in Roush's defense, the site commented that the $59,000 price Conner paid appeared "right in line with the price of most Roush Stage 3 and 427R supercharged Mustangs sold in 2007."

What this means to you: Should be an interesting test of how to define "limited edition." — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent
