Grilles and shipments, a letter for my clients

I am here, I have been working 20+ hours a day for quite a while. I don't know why anyone is surprised that I am not responding to the snarky flaming on the board. I have, through this entire process, refused to participate in any flame wars.

I am available to my customers, and to persons willing to make polite inquiries. The only people who I do not quickly respond to are people that are willing to scream at me or insult me. I have told people that I am unable to promise dates, and they immediately respond with a request for dates. The only answer I can give is to deliver all of these grilles. Indeed I have had nearly a dozen sitting here and in final polish for weeks now, and continue to push them.

People want to push me over the cliff, look down.. I am already there. I have financed over $10,000 into this project. I have put everything that I have into it, and parts are shipping. That is the best that I can do. I cannot use funds for finishing these customers orders to refund money to others because in doing so I sacrifice many people for two. That is not responsible. I have to get grilles out to get funds in and they will be paid before I am, that is the best that I can do.

I did not anticipate such a long R&D process and indeed was told that I would be given the parts to need no R&D at all. I was never given the parts I was promised and the parts I was given had fit issues. Since that time I have only pushed and persevered through all of the adversity with the single goal of making sure that I have delivered what I promised to deliver.

Currently I have mailed three prototypes and 5 final grilles. I will not release details and customer lists, I believe that doing so is a breech of privacy and more opportunity for people who want me to fall down to keep pushing.

There is an English proverb that I like, which demonstrates why I drive ahead despite all of the pushing. "The shortest answer, is doing." These grilles will deliver, at the quality that I promised. In the meanwhile, as I have clearly stated before I will not argue about whether I am working on the grilles, I will simply keep working on them.

I realize that I have made some mistakes, find me a person in business that has not. I have done, and continue to do the best that I can. I am pushing long hours, despite broken bones, concussions, finishing materials delays. I will persevere and I will get them all delivered. Count on it.

All of the grilles that were going to be shipped and were not were pulled back for valid reasons. I needed the grilles to fit and to look the way they were promised. I have built more than 50 prototypes and just gotten tooling fit the way that I wanted it.

You act like I am sitting on inventory and just choosing to not ship them, this is not the case. I have many finished, but until they come out of final polish I cannot ship them. I have watched vendors say that they put customers on the back burner to do more important things, I push every day on these and these alone. What I am clear about is that you will keep pushing no matter what I say, all it does is slow me down.

I have sacrificed everything to get this project done. I will not fail.

yes, until last week, you were kind, and patient, and I always answered you, always took time for you.. last week you wrote me a nasty email and I didn't answer your calls for a few days because that tends to slow me down. HOWEVER honesty goes a Looong way and What I DON'T agree on and would NEVER tolerate is being given fake shipping dates and tracking numbers to get the customer "off your back" - In my humble opinion that's absolutely unacceptable and I am REALLY surprised to see not more of the folks have taken action.

This would have been MY last straw but again, I didn't order one of your grilles and quite frankly glad I didn't !

I have never given out a bogus tracking number. I have pulled several grilles back from shipping for various reasons.

You think it took too long? Guess what? it has damn near killed me. I lost my home.. among all of the other things because I kept routing money to this instead of to me. I have pushed to a point of near total ruin, do you think this has been good for me? My boyfriend dumped me because I would not give up on this project, many of my friends have lectured me about how I should stop, how I should fold because the cost has been too high. I was not willing to stop, I was not willing to let all of the people down who have waited. I don't know anyone else who would push so far, so hard to try and deliver...

Sitting back and looking from the outside it is so comfortable to judge me. I have done, and will keep doing my best. I have an entire batch polishing out.

Now, I am going to get back to those grilles... as I have clearly said, I will not argue about what I am doing, it's faster and more productive to just do it.

I am done with this flame war. It serves no one.

last piece of professional advice i'll throw in:

No one is asking you to publicize your entire customer list - I'm pretty sure folks here such as KatMat, McGoo etc would be glad to say 'hey, I want the info public, tracked on that status sheet' - Just update status on those who want to be publicly informed.
No one is trying to push you down. I've worked on enough 'clean-up projects' to know that when the relationships between multiple parties are so strained, the only way to address it is to come clean - 100% transparency. No BS, no 'you say, I say'.
Missed deadlines are missed deadlines. Don't bother with more reasons/excuses. The status sheet allows you to 'RESET' the schedule and work towards the milestones. Every line of work has a budget and timeline.
Ok, I've given enough advice..and as Pepe said..they are free because this whole issue needs to be fixed for the good of the Prowler community.

Grace, it is sad what price and the sacrifices you had and continue to endure to get this thing done..........but having said that, are you really surprise of these good folks reaction of not getting their products delivered as promised and expected?? That they are getting nasty so you choose to not respond? After all, as I read and seen, you are holding their money or half of it w/out any product on their end. They are clearly frustrated and righfully so. I know there are more upset customers than there are happy ones for this grill and understand the anxiety.... But I really don't know what else Grace can say, she said she was sorry, she said she is committed to get everyone their product, she has offered explanations for delays, belive them or not, its your choice.

Actually since I have not bought one, I don't even think its any of my business to comment much on the details...but to be clear, I would be dissapointed like everyone else is.

I don't know what else she can say.....no matter what it is, it doesn't seem to be enough..... She says that there are a number of the grills just getting finished up, why not let her spend her time trying to get them out and less time responding to all the :nono:

I've been watching "grace's grill" from the start and while I like the grill, once I saw it on Ed's car I know it wasn't the grill for us as we like Gary's grill better on the car. So I haven't really commented since.I'm a bit torn about posting this but at this point but I don't want anyone to be "taken". I don't know why anyone would ever take on a Prowler project with all this shit slinging just waiting for someone to stumble..... Members claim to want to stand by their friends that have been waiting for stuff, but I can't believe that customers requested others to speak on their behalf.

Had this type of hatefull dog piling happened before I started the Grip project, I would have never done it for a group, but have had one custom made for myself. By the way, my goal for the grips was to have it completed in 3 weeks, it took 4 months, but people were patient so I stuck to it and got it done.

Its the same old thing.... a few ruin it for the bunch....

Prowltalk existed for 3 years without this type of misery, it seemed like we all looked after eachother and had eachothers back.......... now dog piling is here, I never thought this would happen on PT and it makes me sad.

I don't think it was ever about how long it takes to get the grilles. Yes, your grip project took longer than you thought it would, but you were always upfront about it and you never claimed the grips had shipped when they hadn't.
Grace seems like a person with a lot of talent and she's good at what she does. The biggest mistake she made was to tell people their grille will ship and then it didn't or gave out tracking numbers when the grille hadn't shipped.
I wish her good luck in finishing her project and I'm sure she'll learn from her mistakes.

Thanks Russell.... I almost gave up on the Grips but there were so many looking foreward to them that I kept at it, and very glad I did. I didn't want to let anyone down and quitting isn't an honorable way out of anything.
