Had to put our dog down last night. Jim I know how you felt. One of the hardest things both of us ever had to do.
He was allmost 14 years old, with conjestive heart failure. He was good during the day, but his coughing in the early mornings was getting worse and worse.
We were with him the whole time, and buried him on a hill next to the inlaws.
He was a good dog, never barked, never jumped up on anyone.
We have no kids, so its like part of us is missing.
We say we will never get another. Just too hard:frown:

  Terry and Lynn: I'm so sorry for your loss, and you have my deepest sympathy
I understand the loss of your family friend, who gave you unconditional love. After I lost my Dobbie Maggie,,,and many years later my giant Schnauzer Henry, I told myself "no more". The pain can be extremely emotional to bare, but time will heal your sorrow,,and you'll always have the memories.

its been several years since i had to go through this and i understand the depth of emotions that you must be feeling. i am soo sorry for your loss. Time will heal the pain, but take heart in the fact that you had many good years with the most unconditional love that exist with a beloved pet.

I too know the heart break. My 14 yr old Black Lab named Abby had lung cancer and we had to put her down. She had that tennis ball in her mouth and wanted to play right to the end. Took me many years before getting another dog (for the kids you know ).
My prayers go out to you.

I'm sorry for your loss. I will miss my girl "Cookie" our black lab, when the day comes and it's her turn.
I was once told, "A death is like an amputation. The pain eventually goes away, but you will always feel like something is missing."
We had a doberman years ago. She was a great dog.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's tough to loose a beloved pet. People that don't have pets don't understand the love we have for them.
It's going to hurt for a while but things will eventually get better. Hang in there !
You'll always have the memories...:icon_sad:

We had to put down our little Shih Tzu after only 6 years due to an incurable blood disease. We know how you feel.:frown:
My family and I had to immediately get another Shih Tzu to help ease the pain. Believe me when I tell you it was devistating!
Our prayers will go out to Kato and your family.

:frown: So sorry to hear about your loss. Pets are so much like family and it is like loosing a family member when they leave us. Bonds that are shared between owners and pets are just amazing and yet very sad when something happens to them. God Bless Kato!

I am sorry to hear about your dog. It's tought o lose something you have become so attached to.
Marty
Sorry to hear that. :( But I'd have a hard time believing that all t he good times you had with him weren't worth it.
So sorry to hear it , that is the big reason I will not have a pet , just like losing part of the family .
Get yourself a parrot. Smart as heck, sociable, and they'll outlive you if taken care of properly.

Thanks for all the kind words folks. Your mind plays tricks on you, thought I heard him comming down the hall.
Keep trying to tell ourselves, we did the right thing. Didn't want to see him suffer
We missed him an hour after we put him down. The little buger sure had a hold on us.
Time is what we need Thanks again to all :tu:

We got another Shih Tzu the very next day. We kept looking for her by our feet. We'd pick up her toys and immediately break down. It was awfull!!!:icon_sad:
They are truly a part of your family. You end up spending so much time with them...just like your own children.

We should have gotten 2 Shih Tzus so they could play with each other. Can't do it now...our present puppy would get too jealous...lol.
