I'm Good.... the wind is strong and fanning the fires... there have been evacuations in nearby communities and the wind has changed direction towards us....being at the end of a dead end road, I will not hesitate to get out of town if there is any risk.
The fires can have the house, nobody gets the Hellkat but me...:burnout

Yep.. Power came up around 11pm lat night...we have been told that they are turning it off at 7pm my time for the night because of the expanding fire near power transmission lines. I will likely be off line tonight so I'm going to post the Nascar thread now....
Damn wind is fanning the fire, nearly impossible to fight.

That is one nasty fire!
Reminds me of the cruise we were on during the 2002 Colorado event,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,traveling mountain roads during a huge forest fire there,,,,,that red glow surrounded us and the heavy smoke clouds layed above us >>>> everything we seen looked like it was day-glow red in color,,,,,,totally strange feeling. We got out of there pronto,,,,,and where we had stoped for a rest break, small mountain village of cabins and summer homes,,all burned down behind us as we drove away from that area. We were lucky to shag our butts out of there while we had the chance.
 Don't be brave Jimbo,,,,,,take the dog and Hellkat and leave!
Nikki can follow in your other vehicle with the kid's pictures......and the computers......................................
Stay safe buddy!

Jim,
We have fires along our coast but yours seem a bit more deadly.
Take care of yourself and family.

well the power stayed on....The roads to the city are still closed, the only way in will be the back road that is nearly 2 hours drive instead of 1. We are hoping they can get the fire under control enough so we can get to work the usual way tomorrow...
Thanks for all your thoughts, I think we will be ok, we are far enough away from the fires and we live on a point of land extending out into the ocean.

Your rain is going north to Quebec... no hope for rain here until Tuesday earliest.... 5000 have now been evacuated...The hurricane we had in 2003 knocked down much of the forest in the area that the fire is in, the dead wood is dry and the area is hard to access because of all the trees that were blown down.... this is natures way of cleaning up after herself I guess.
