This afternoon on a cruise in my '99, the CD Changer didnt want to play the CD's. It kept cycling from CD 1 to CD 2 to CD3 and so on.. The Changer would make the sound as if it was trying to load the CD from the cartridge into the Player but it wouldnt load any of the CD's. After it went through all 6 CD's, the Radio display would say "no disc". It did let me remove the full Cartridge though. I replaced the Cartridge with another Cartridge and it did that one the same thing. And I tried a different CD Changer and got the same result. I'm thinking the problem may be in the Radio itself...
Anybody else had this happen:?:
Buddy,
that's ALMOST identical what happened to ours about 3 years ago .......... that's when I yanked the CD changer, threw it in the trash bin and hooked up my iPod (and never looked back)
At the time I tried several things to get it 'going' again without much success
(at least you could remove the cartridge, I couldn't even do THAT at the time)
Have you tried to reset the 'puter' ?

Finally fixed this problem yesterday. Turned out to be the CD Changer after all. Luckily, I have a few "spares" and swapped it out. I also replaced my Red Console with my original Stock one...something I'd been wanting to do for over a year.
Now all I have left to do to the '99 is swap out the 6 Speakers with the Kit I bought from Jay about 3 years ago. (I know, I know..)
Still waiting for my Grace's Grill and my Louvered Side Panels though.
What was wrong with the changer Buddy ? Or was it just .... CRAP ?!

I didnt take the CD Player apart to try and find out Dusti. I was ready to replace the Radio, as I had tested the Radio with another CD Player first (easy part) and had the same symptom. So I swapped Radios to test the CD Player and it still didnt work. I then replaced the CD Player with another Player and tested that one with a different Radio and everything worked. Next I tried my original Radio again, with the changed-out CD Player and everything worked then too. So I left my Original Radio in along with the changed-out Player.
The problem could have been with the wiring/connections at either end, but since I ended up having the same problem with the original Changer using two different Radios, I replaced the Changer.
The only thing I can believe is that an electronic component inside the CD Changer that recognizes the CD's failed or maybe the wiring /connections for some reason went bad too. Everything worked fine through the Tulsa event then I started having this problem when we got home.
I cant find anyone here that is willing to check out a CD Player and diagnose problems with them. Luckily, I have plenty of Spare Changers.
Thanks Buddy ........... no biggie really, I was just wondering, personally I don't use CD's anymore, that's SOOOO 90's
