The truck we are selling is a ford F350. That holds with the extra tank 88 gallons of diesel. At $4.29-------$377.52 a fill up. Thats almost what my first car cost.

Ok, I'll probably get creamed, and not sure if I believe all the figures. But I have heard them being tossed about.

The oil industry claims that their net profit after all expenses is 7.5 to 8%. This is supossedly about equal with other major manufacturers. I know a lot of you reading the board are business owners. If the 8% net profit is accurate, how does that compare with your net profits?

The media likes to talk about the record 10 billion dollar profits, but fail to mention the same companies also paid 10 billion dollars in taxes. This figure came from a trusted source.

Now again I'm not sure if all the figures are accurate, I do believe some of them are. Maybe it's time for a good accounting from the government where all the tax dollars go.

Yes, the gas prices suck, but with China and India usage growing and the US refusal to drill off the coasts of Florida, California, Alaska and Anwar I don't think we will ever see any significant reduction in prices.:eek:

Oh, and you also need to toss in futures speculators(traders) into the pricing mix.
I had heard (and this was a couple of years ago) that speculators were hiring tankers, filling them up in the middle east, and then parking then off the the US coasts waiting to see for a higher price. Very similar to flipping houses except n improvements are made to the oil before they sell it. Probably worse now that a couple of years ago.

The agency that "predicted" Oil prices going to triple digits ($ 100,-) a couple of years ago ALSO "predicted" OIL going to hit $ 200,-/barrel within the next 2 years !

Even if we used those Drilling Sites we dont have the Refineries to process the Oil. My complaint is that they change the price overnight. You KNOW the Gas in their Tanks underground lasts more than one day. They havnt experienced a price increase in their next load yet but they just jack the prices up for the gas in the Ground as if they did. Thievin' Bastids!

I don't disagree with your complaint one bit, but the same practice occurs across most retail business. The little bit of time I spent in retail it was very common to raise prices on floor stock. Is it right, probably not, just more noticeable in gas than other products.

So.... planning on going green????? How about the first "green" prowler......what I don't understand is how when I go to Brazil half of the cars are ran on ethanol yet we in America can't seem to get the technology going here....

oh that's right.... oil companies are paying our political figures nice "bonuses" to keep it that way....

what's nice about the situation wait till we we get a "tropical storm" in the gulf that's enough to increase the price by .50 cents... if a real hurricane comes heck we may be in the 5 dollar range...

typical BS..... Hard to put a stop to it, when the government is getting "theirs"...

oh....yeah...our main client who has deep water rigs....will leave oil down in the ocean floor if it cost more than 2 dollars for uplift cost claiming it's not "profitable"....WTF?

Has anyone ever seen an engine modified to use both gasoline and gas (propane) ...

while I was in Dominican Republic it is a very common thing down there to save money on fuel consumption.

Brazil has ethanol and regular petro cars.... you can run either. Some cars do both... They are getting ethanol from sugarcane that grows rampid all over the place..... also another question why does th US have lower milage standards for their vehicles than other countries? Same car....diffrent country gets better mileage.... another WTF?

Gas stations adjust the price to cover the next deliveries of fuel. They have to constantly watch the market so they don't get caught short on buying the next load of fuel.

It works a little opposite of how most business does where I buy a part at a certain price and then mark it up, later that same part might cost me more at the time of purchase and then I mark it up, etc, etc. This way the customer only pays an increased price on the item I payed an increase on.

Speculators are driving the rapid rise in fuel. World demand hasn't risen at the same rate as the prices.

How many food industry execs do that, how many health insurance execs do that. The fact that they're an "exec" means that they are not living from paycheck to paycheck. It's not just oil companies, but it applies to every other company that produces things that we have to have.

Also applies to most politicians also!:smflame:

I've read and heard people talk about a windfall profits tax, and they argue that this cost would not be be passed on to the consumers, because this is a what they refer to as a backend tax. The oil companies will not know what the tax will be until the end of the quarter, so no way that they can pass this cost on the the consumers. :rll::rll: Anyone that believes that line of garbage, are you interested in some ocean front land in Arizona. :rll:

Many factors are contributing to the gas prices, stockholders are starting to work to reign in corporate Exec salaries. But it will be a long process. And probably a very small part of the cost of a gallon of gas/diesel.

You will never see an exec living paycheck to paycheck.

In the 70's it was the phone company that was bad, and the government forced a breakup, and service suffered. Now most of the baby bells have merged back together into one company.
