Ideas for 2008 cruises and get togethers

Lets start putting some ideas together for 2008, I talked to the dodge dealer in East Troy and they would like to host us at a event at the dealership. Any suggestions or comments? What would we like to make happen this year? :?:

We stayed at these log cabins in Baraboo, they are close to Devils Lake and the Dells. Price was right and cozy. :biggrin:

Due to my wife surgery she used all her vacation so we are strapped for a long trip is out(Colo), We would be interested in a 4 day weekend trip . We are in Kansas so it would not be that long of drive . Just find a Hotel close to everyone .

How about a cruise up to Mackinaw Island??? I was thinking we can take the car ferry from Manitowoc, WI to Ludington, MI and cruise up to Mackinaw from Ludington... It is about a 3.5 hour drive from Ludington to Mackinaw once we get off the ferry. There is also a car ferry I think from Waukesha to Muskegeon. Does this sound like too much??? What do you think???

We can meet up by Sno's place and drive to Manitowoc or Waukesha to catch the ferry.

Why not do an overnighter? Maybe a fall trip or late summer? I have never been up to Mackinaw but I hear it is nice. I think this would be a comfortable cruise if we left Saturday from Sno's, stayed overnight in Mackinaw, and came back on Sunday. Not sure how much the car ferry costs.

Mackinaw in one day/overnight/back...what a run! - exhausting run, that is! Lotsa territory to cover there. And the slowboat is in itself 4-4 1/2hrs... fast boat is only two, with the fare about double of the slowboat.
Been to Mackinaw...loved it.... stayed at the Grand Hotel ...great place.

So it sounds like the ferry stinks... I wouldn't know... never taken it. It sounds like you guys were in hell when you took it to Meancat's before heading to Woodward. Maybe Mackinaw in the summer of '09? I kinda thought it would be too much for a weekend trip.

Some years we catch it 'just right' but year before last was a good example of 'oops' as the week before the run, although the colors was just about right, there had been two days of 40-50 mph winds and all the leaves were on the ground. It was a good time regardless ...
We usually see it around the end of September, mid October at the latest.
