In a desperate attempt to chase away the black cloud over my head since Bamys death, I have bought a new puppy....She is a Papillon, 14 weeks old and her name is Heidi. My son Bryn paid for her with my promice to pay him back, i guess he got tired of seeing my sad face.
Heidi is an extreme ball of energy and has worn me out already. she is friendly, affectionate, and always wagging her tail. It was a five hour drive home with her and she seemed to like the trip. Nikki was surprised to see her but is still very sad from the loss of Bamy and told me she was not ready for another dog, so there are some mixed feelings.
Heidi will never replace Bamy in our hearts but hopefully find her own place there. Thank you all for your words of comfort over the past month...here is hoping that there are better days ahead.

It was the right thing to do,Jim. Heidi will never replace Bamy, but she will eventually fill that hole in your heart.

Heide is beautiful Jim!!!:tu:
I think you were smart by getting her so soon. You will never be able to replace Bamy but this little girl will help the healing process.
Have fun with her and don't forget to post more pics!!!

Brian,
your advice on this is why I went out and got Heidi so quickly after Bamys death, Heidi helps keep my mind off the sorrow, I'm hoping soon I can look at the old photos of Bamy without shedding a tear...
Thanks for the great advice...:tu:

Jimbo
Jim,
I'm glad I could help.;-)
My wife just reminded me the other day just how devistating it was when we had to put our first Shih Tzu down. I originally thought we bought our new little girl about a week later...I was wrong...IT WAS THE VERY NEXT DAY!!! We would be looking all around the floor for her. Keeping an eye on the floor to make sure her water dish was full. It was totally unberable.
So when you told me about your little Bamy...God rest her soul...I knew you had to immediately get another puppy to show her the same love you gave to Bamy.
Damn...my eyes filled up again just typing this...lol.
A dog I feel is one of your best friends. Such unconditional love.
One of our favorite shows on the National Geographic channel is the Dog Whisperer. That Cesar Milan is the greatest!!!
Heidi will never replace the love you will ALWAYS have for Bamy...but she will help make the hurt a little more bearable.

I love this picture!!! Remind me of my middle daughter's cat. the darn thing got outside, brought home a chipmunk, and then got fleas. I laugh when my son-in-law tells the story of giving the darn thing flea baths. :devil:devil
