"only" 620 HP - rumors had it at 650 or higher. Slap a SC on a Viper's 600 HP engine and you would have over 750 HP. Corvettes are certainly more refined tahn a Viper as far as road manners and driveability go and 620 HP is a lot of ponies for most anyone. I think the Viper and new ZR1 appeal to different personlites. I'll take one of each!
It's starting to look more like a hot wheels, which is BAD! The whole point of the corvette was being classy. Look at the 53 and 67 stingray, now look at this one. All class is gone. It'd need some major aftermarket clean-up to refine the crap out of it.
Not a 'vette fan here but this is NICE ! :tu:

It wont matter when you spin out in the viper and find yourself in a cloud of tire smoke! :smflame:

200 hp or 600 hp +, same results if you make a mistake or stupid move.
600 + would be a lot more fun.

You keep thinking about power, though. I was referring to suspension and how the cars handle cornering. Valid point, though. I should know

Brian ... yes, but there you go doing what so many Viper owners did when the Prowler came out, comparing unqual examples. I am not up on Vipers, but do know that Corvette's all have ABS and ASR for improved driving safety and don't forget luggage space too ... Comparing the GTS Viper here, since ZR-1 likely not to come in ragtop form. I dunno ... $100 is much, but still MUCH cheaper than the Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari it is going up against.

It all comes down to what you want, civilized (vette ABS and other stuff) or uncivilized (viper).

I think it is gouging ... gorging may be where they drive those rice burners into ... we hope ...
Hell ... let's take off the gloves ... I would take the new Bugatti that is a cool $1M and does sustained speeds of >220+ and goes 220 to 0 n 3.5 seconds. Now THAT is a car.
Brian ... I have seen more pictures of those "uncivilized" cars wrapped around various stationary objects, so then what are you left with for your savings of $15k?:nono:

That's good, because the front end is ugly as hell!
And I read about Nissan's feeble attempts at trying to prevent dealer gouging.
You need to have a special certification to sell the GT-R, among other things.

That comment goes back to the same as what happened to a lot of the 60's and early 70's muscle cars. Just cause you could afford to have one doesn't mean you know how to drive it. Lots of the muscle cars ended up trashed, and wasn't it Bill Cosby's old/new Carrol Shelby SuperSnake (1 of 2) that went swimming off of a cliff into the Pacific ocean.
As I've told Tuivc, that is the reason I won't buy a Viper, I'm sure I would get bitten.
Although the new vipers are supposedly a lot better than the first and second generation models.

I have driven two Vipers, a former friend's '96 GTS for a period on I-55 coming back from Roanoke Motors nad enjoyed a little on ramp acceleration, and then TUIVC's Hennessy Snake in New Castle before going to dinner ... and was VERY grateful it started to rain .. since then it was 15 mph the way bacl to his business (thank you again Mr. Bell). I can EASILY see how people get bit ... just ask BuddyBrad ... he found one in his front yard one night ... neighdor let his son drive it with dad as passenger ... lost it, airborne, took out tree and ... well ... I will take a Vette over a Viper ANY day ... love the GTS Viper look and sound, but not the rawness of the saftey features. JMHO ...
