Thank you so much for your kind welcome! :-D

I am a builder fabricator and designer in the Seattle area. I am now licensed to make the grille that was previously available from M&L Automotive. I have made a few changes to the design. There will now be 29 bars instead of 25, tighter pattern makes it less of a show through. The pieces I am making are high polish 316 stainless, which is a marine grade stainless steel so it will tollerate salt without corrosion. I am also reworking the bolt in so there will be a great fit that can be fine tuned easily. The top lip will be high polish as well. ;-)

I am also working on three different designs for custom bumpers and we have talked about a full fender kit for the car.

I welcome questions, feedback and new ideas.

I love what I do and consider it a gift that I am able to do what I love most in the world every day!

Hi Grace,

Many here have dreamed of side panels with punched louvers ... is this something that you can fabricate ?

Welcome aboard !

Punched lovers, dude? Carrying punched out people like that would seriously add weight and mess up the handling!

And nice work on the grille! I'm sure it looks 10 times better (at least 10) in person. I've always liked the look of those on the prowler.

:-D Thanks! and yes! I'd have to make a set to be able to cost it, time and materials kind of thing, I wouldn't think it would be too costly.

Grace,

There is information regarding the process of punching these aluminum panels... we have had much discussion about it here and can share the tech info with you if you like...

MetalWithGrace

 There are several different ways to go about making nice louvers, and I am always up for talking technique.

Anyone be up for sending me a side panel to pattern and getting a set for materials cost for their trouble?

STAMPEDE !!!!............

I would send mine, but then I would be looking at trying to match the airbrush work... not in the cards for me right now....

lets see if i can dig up the discussion regarding the punching of the aluminum.

Gary

The test panel would be used to pattern. No damage at all. :-D The only thing that would be a MUST would be to insure it in transport, and it would come back in less than a week, just as it left... :-D

here is some of the info I have found....

I didn't anneal the panels properly, so the louvers split at the edges. I had the edges tack welded and bondo'd the shape back. The whole thing including the cost of two used panels and paint cost me under 800 bucks. I didn't include my labor in that figure. There's a guy on Long Island that has a louver punch in his garage. I gave him a drawing of what I wanted and he did the lay-out and punching. This was his first time in aluminum.

I have had so many calls about this and so many comments... With enough orders I can make that work for me. I talked with my supplier and they will give me a discount on my Stainless for ordering a larger load. So I can do this again...

Since there is no clear way to keep the list and not exclude anyone that is caught in the middle, all of the orders taken since the top ten was closed will be honored at the top ten price. I will accept orders for the grille for the 1000 for the rest of November.

I am sorry for the confusion.

Talked to Mark (M&L) he doesn't want to make any more. If you are very interested I can talk with him about contracting them to me. or we can design a custom built top and build it as a one off.

Alternately I know that MetalCrafters makes a hard top..

Hi Grace,

I have the TGF top and like it a lot... but also one of the few that like the Panel delivery Top... I think something can be done with that area behind the side window to improve the look, maybe paint, maybe a vent type of mod.... I see the delivery top as something for shows and an alternative to towing a trailer on the long trips...If the original mold is available to you that could be an option or something custom....

Beauty is in the eye, so they say.. it's more rounded than I would do, but I am glad that someone has done a full fender...

Seattle is a great place, where's she go to college? what's she going to be doing??

If the owner likes it, then so be it. I wouldnt be caught dead driving that car. I wouldnt be caught alive doing it either!

The one big thing is how the fender doesnt stretch all the way to the back, it angles way too sharply and connects with the door panel. That's an eye sore that messed up the car's lines.

IN-XTC
11-29-2007, 08:05 AM
she is doing Choreography and Dance at Cornish Colledge which is right on Capital Hill so I dont need to tell you how much work she is doing allthough she is a great kid and a good kid to so just gotta trust in the powers u know . Is your shop far from there cause I come up as a care package somethimes and would love to see your facility ..

IN-XTC
11-29-2007, 08:07 AM
yup Diny u r right but that is what happens when you start messing with design

MetalWithGrace
11-29-2007, 11:31 AM
The lines of the Prowler are beautiful, when I design mods I like to follow the template that they have left. I would love to do a set of full fenders with full running boards. Leave the flow of the car as it is, I love the lines it starts with.

Chip Foose always says, you can always catch someone's eye by doing something very unusual, his goal is to have it look so stock and so factory that you can't tell how much has been done.. make it flow with the design... good advice.

My shop is in south seattle, not far from Boeing field.. which is not too far from Capital hill.. Have to be careful with me when I say that though, I am used to commute time.. never bothers me..

Okay, I mapped it, I am 8.6 miles from her school.... google says,
8.6 mi – about 18 mins
up to 40 mins in traffic

Yup.. we've got the traffic for certain.. :eek2:

I can't recall reading where anyone was questioning a female's ability . I think everyone can make their own assessments once the products are received. She's been given a great reception here at Prowl Talk as a virtual unknown to the Prowler community in my opinion.
