Tucked inside a garage in the Hughetts' building is an expensive and exclusive red sports car, a Plymouth Prowler, that belonged to Larry Tilitzki of Galveston. Fleeing Rita, he had come to live with relatives in Doucette, five miles from Woodville, and had asked the Hughetts if they would house his car.
It was a delighted Tilitzki who learned that his car hadn't been hit by as much as a drop of rain.
"That's some great, great news," he said. "I was worried, because that tornado went through just about 50 yards from our house."
