Tangled up in 'Vitamin C'

another long, boring flashback story from TUIVC (what happens when you get to be as old as me)....
...spring 1969, I had just about totaled my triple black '69 Chevelle SS396/375 conv, it was 6 weeks old.....it was hit so hard in the rear end on the cruise strip the other car broke in half and my poor old Chevy dropped parts for several days (it was still driveable, but much shorter)...my dad wanted me to "get a Ford"....so we went to a local small town hick dealer and the salesman tried to sell us a new red '69 BOSS 429....I looked it all over, inside the engine compartment etc etc, but I didn't want a Ford, Fords were for old dudes like my dad....we closed the hood and walked away without even taking a test drive ( I had the keys in my hand)....
...several nights later on the cruise strip I thought I heard a freight train coming towards me, it was the BOSS 429....the new owner had already installed headers and had em wide open that night....it sounded GREAT !!!....I saw the car around a few nights and never again....never knew where it went...
...2005, I am standing at a local show checking out a black BOSS 429 a friend of mine had just purchased....I am talking to a guy I didn't know and I mention the above story.....well, it turns out he was the guy that bought the red BOSS way back in 1969....we had a nice talk about the car, it's faults (bad engine) and it's strong points....he had owned the car for decades but let it slip away before the price spiral....it still exists although I don't remember where he said it went...any of you Ford fans ever run into a BOSS 429 that was purchased new in Knightstown Indiana, thats the one...
