Well about an hour ago USPS delivered my new Ken Romain Convertible Boot Covers. Within minutes they were installed. What a great product! They were simple and easy to install and look fantastic.

This is the second product I bought from Ken (the other being a trans cover) and he is a great vendor. Quick to respond, super products and very fair prices.
I could not recommend him more.

There are no snaps showing, no extra holes to drill , no verco needed, and the fabric is ordered directly from Chrysler to match your interiors. Best of all the price is lower...

Also don't forget about the Trans Cooler Covers and the Custom Air Patrol Bags.
I almost forgot, the new trailer hitch plates.

Generally, I do not like to get into a pissing contest over these but I feel the need to clarify some points.

1. I am the ORGINAL designer and producer of these covers.
2. Snap version will not come off your car unless you take them off your car! To include getting into a collison. They are heavy duty boat cover snaps.
3. They require a little more work to put on but the look is more inline with convertible boots with snaps showing.
4. The snaps are nearly invisible when the top is up.
5. These are hand sewn and it takes 1 hr 15 minutes to make a pair. Shop time is 65.00 per/hr. You do the math.
6. I have always used material that matches the car's interior in color, grain and texture. I cannot say that it comes from Chrysler, but who cares if they match.
7. The stiffing material is sewn in along with the piping stitching.
8. I have always paid for the shipping to POA and PT members no matter where you lived.
8. I did not manufactoring these to get rich quick. I did it cause I did not like the look of the car without them, and I thought others would like the look as well.

I have not seen Kens so I can't comment on them , but I do have a pair of Steve's and can confirm all he has said.
They are top quality,the color matches perfectly, easy on , easy off, he shipped them right away and I got them quickly, easy to install (I got the snaps.)

Steve was the first to offer these and I bought a set from his first batch. they improved the look of the car tremendously and can be left on under the hardtop.

Maybe I should try to explain where i'm coming from on this issue before folks get the wrong impression....

Competition is great, its what keeps things in balance and there are laws that protect peoples rights to both personal and intellectual property. Are they fair ? not really, but thats all we got so there often is the ethical and moral issues that come into play.

If say every idea was up for grabs, no holds barred, who do you suppose would exploit this unchecked situation ? It would be the people with the money that could buy bulk materials, keep costs low and offer knock offs cheaper and with more profit that the original inventor.....the little guy wouldn't have a hope to compete when folks just go for the cheapest prices.

If there is no legal protection there should be some type of moral conscience, so that people are not afraid to go ahead with new ideas, share their information and make it worth while for them....otherwise there would be one big store and eventually one big price....for a very limited amount of items....

I will pay more to buy from an ethical seller than less from one that is unethical...

Halicat, These items are NOT protected, To protect your idea, you need a patent. Even with a patent, a few changes here and there , and it's a new ball game. This is called Free Enterprise. If we didn't have it, we would all be driving the same color car , watching the same T V . I have known Ken ( O C Prowler) for some time , and will stand behind him 100 %. I personally have bought a pair of boots from Elf, Both people make great products,And I would buy from both again. It's personal preference between the two that make the difference. As for copying, We plan on bringing back the speaker box and Air Patrol, I have always thought these to be two of the best items available, Due to unknown reasons, Bob stopped making them after taking appox $ 12,000.00 in deposits from our members here. There is a small demand for items for the Prowler to make it very profitable, So if One can make it cheaper than the other, I am all for it. It prevents a Monopoly by any seller, and keeps the prices down.

Halicat, I believe you need to see both items first hand, as they are not the same. Ken came out with covers that are held in place by Velcro, As some owners do not want to drill holes. I would imagine Washington state , where Elf has his made, labor is more due to lack of people to do these, where as California, There are shops here by the thousands, which knocks the price down. But check on the items , as they are not the same. If we only had one supplier for these items, the prices would really be high. as with all our mods that we buy. I for one will stand up for anyone who goes out of their way to bring us these add ons. Both of these members have a top notch products, and have spent alot of money to put it all on the table. With the items we are doing, and the cost, I can understand why most will not attempt this. I have owned my own business for over 30 years now, Believe me , doing items for such a small demand, is not very profitabe, I do it for the satisfaction. These cars are one of a kind, and so are all the mods, We should all tip our hat to people who are willing to make a product and to give a consumer a choice.

As far as the Real Rod Items, I have had people approach me asking if I had the ability to make this items for them. The idea again if possible is to make them better and for less then what you got in the past.

Its a shame this web site allows so mush time to be wasted on topics like this, when there are so many positive things that could be discussed.

I think some respect and credit is due to the person that thought of the idea first...Steve made the velcro ones I think it was the second week after he came out with the snap on ones..I bought one of Steves first sets of snap on boots and recall him getting requests and coming up with the velco ones.

Either way, it is great to have people thinking up new ideas for these cars we love so much....I'm thinking if I had new ideas that kept getting copied and reproduced it would deter me from sharing my thoughts....I would like to see more creative items being invented and less copying this would encourage more open sharing of ideas and less hard feelings...

They have always been welcome , along with other of P/T members. Several months ago , I talked with David, He had mentioned, that maybe we dont belong here, At 53 years old, and running my business, I come home to enjoy both sites here and have always looked forward to reading here, up until the attacks on people here, I have watched this site since the beginning, and like to read good things about the car and people.Not to see members torn apart, and shreaded. Both sites offer a lot of information and the availability to find after market parts, I belong to two other car clubs, and have never seen anything like what I have read here. David , You were right, I don't feel I do belong here. If this site ever settles down enough to enjoy the car , the people and the events, It will be a car club again. I take exception to the statement that certain members are being left out of SOCAL events. Ken and I try our Damnist to get as many members from both WebSites to attend SOCAL events. I usally try to stay out of all the BS and drama that goes on in both Sites and focus on the people all of who I have meet are great.Also when I do see this kind of s**t going on try to stay out of it, but I feel this has gone to far and should have been stopped our at least dealt with by the Senior Members to get it back on a more friendly note. I also notice that most of what is said about SOCAL members are from somewhere else and I have never heard from any SOCAL member that they thought they were being Black listed from events our were confronted about which site was the best and if I they did I would have stepped in immediatly. I thought it was great when they gave us a Event Section for SOCAL and all event's that have came up were posted on both sites. But again this time it has gone to far and I to think it's time to move on. I will continue to E-Mail all SoCal members so they can attend events, and I hope everyone will keep attending all possible events and keep me updated with any new members. But F$&k all of those who think the best way to have a conversation is to, what I feel is over the line and do personal bashing of others. And thats what I really feel has happened here..Thank you to all the great people I have meet here and I hope all will stay in touch, and we will overcome all this petty BS and have a excellent time when we meet again

You got me there. I see both sides of the argument. On one hand I like to see good old freedom of to choose and the other side I know R&D is not cheap. I usally choose the cheaper even if the quality is a little less. I don't have all the Modification I would like to do to my KAT because of the price they go for. So yes I would like to see knockoff's if you will, so I might be able to purchase a few of them myself. I would love a Air Patrol and if anybody comes out with a copy that is not so outragous I will probally save and get me one. I also know I really wanted a Luggae Rack so I tried to make one for myself and was going to make a few more and sell them to cover the cost of material only. Well by the time I was done they ended be almost double what it would have cost me than to buy the orginal ones. So I won't try that again. So when it comes down to it and I absolutly had to choose I would say Stealing Idea's are wrong. We all have difference's in opinons and everyone should do and say what they feel and follow thier own beliefs. But what pi**ed me off so much is the on going personal attacks on people like Ken who is not out there to make a million but to allow more people to be able to afford modification when the Senior Members could have just told him he couldn't sell on PT and leave it at that, but allowed it to continue and the comments about event's. Thanks to all that have supposed my product. For the record I have made Velco covers for POA members who wanted them. I informed them that I did not stand behind the velcro ones. My R&D identified that over time pulling at the velcro base and combined with the sun's heat, they fail. Thus, I went to boat cover snaps. Critics have commented on drilling holes, however scuffing up the plastic so the velcro base will stick to me was counter productive. Convertible boots have had snaps since day one. Why change a good design or a design that works.

Ken was the first to market his AirPatrol bag. I had one made up long before his, I did not wish to market mine and have to put up with the fallout of copying his idea. Or be accussed of copying his idea When I know I had it made months before he introduced his. I know that the bag that my upholsterer would make would be significantly less cost. Not less quality, just less expensive. This would be a way to get back at him for copying the boot design, but I am not that interested in screwing him. I know I am not going to get rich selling these boots. But hopefully the Prowler members understand what it takes to make them. If they want Ken's so be it. But if they want something that is truely hand made then they buy mine. No more no Less. Steve

Please don't let this latest round of bashing tear you from the SoCal family, You are two of the best supporters of Prowler events and are always making things happen not only locally but nationally as well. I wish I would have not gotten involved in this and stayed neutral as I normally do, so all will feel welcome at SoCal event's. I have E-Mailed all SoCal members for their input and I'm determined to make everyone feel at home and enjoy SoCal events. So I ask you to please tell me your questions and problems so I can make it right as best as I can. I am not from So-Cal and felt totaly left out if not for the friendship of Sherman Chwee and Jen my soninlaw and I might just as well not been there until he wanted a donation for the prowler group to give to the fund even OC ingnored me, so dont ask me how I feel about the so-cal group other then the LORD (cruise control) Larry I will continue to go to the Cruise because I am a SURVIVOR not because of the SO-CAL group.

Am I ever sorry I ever shared a new addition to my Prowler? I thought that by letting other Prowler owners know what I had done and who I bought the parts from I was doing a good thing. Was I ever wrong. Excuse me for sharing.

I have two last thoughts.
First I thought that in this land of free enterprise where we live that innovation and competition is what makes our country great. I guess in here some folks believe there should only be one source for pizza, cars and whatever else; the original source. Boy would things ever be expensive then. And boring!

The second is that there must three types of censorship.

The first is the obvious deletion of ideas or people that you don’t agree with. Many of you are here because of that.
The second but obviously just as effective is to belittle and criticize someone until they just leave. Man o man, should some folks ever look at the glass houses they live in.
The third is to just leave. I started coming to this site because it seemed like a good way to enjoy and share the love I had for my new car. I overlooked the true hatred that some had for their previous site. It now seems that the same challenges that drove them away from the other site have overcome this one. What a shame.
I truly hope that some of you learn to enjoy life rather spending your time finding fault with others. Some of this has been fun but no longer. :icon_sad::icon_sad:

The snap on ones only take a minute to put on and take off and can be left on the car if you are using the hardtop....appearance wise, they make a huge difference..
