In Washington State they just raised all the penalty fees for driving
infractions. Worst of all is HOV lane (High Occupancy Vehicle) violation
went up to $1068.50 for the first offense and it doubles on the second,
triples on the third offense and fourth offense is one year suspended
license.
Incorrect lane change went up to $380.
Also the WSP has stated they will now enforce the 2 year old law about
talking on cell phones while driving, and plan on giving out many of the
$285 tickets. Hands free calls are OK but no phones plastered to your ear.
Cell phone usage in a construction zone will cost $580. [Ed note - what
will PDQ have to moan about ?]
They up'd the seat belt violation to $101 and both the driver and offending
passenger now get a ticket. And now DUI is "instant arrest and transport to
jail"
The WSP also announced that they will no longer be tolerant of + 5mph over
the limit. The new "forgiveness" is only 3mph.
It's getting expensive to be a scofflaw driver in this state. :)
