FYI… Low Tire Pressure Warning OVERVIEW…

The Low Tire Pressure Warning Lamp and Announcement Chime functions as follows…

When a tire pressures reaches the 20 psi threshold (low pressure), the Warning Lamp will illuminate and the Announcement Chime will sound a single long tone.

When a tire pressures reaches the 14 psi threshold (critical pressure), the Warning Lamp will illuminate and the Announcement Chime will sound a chime one second on, one second off.

When the Low Tire Pressure Warning Lamp if flashing there may be an air leak… there may be a tire with low pressure… there may be a pressure sensor plugged.

The tire pressure is monitored approximately once a minute when the vehicle is above 20 MPH.

The individual LF, RF, RR, LR tire pressure transmitters have individual IDs and must be learned by the Low Tire Pressure Warning (LTPW) Module. When replacing / relocating tires or wheels or pressure sensors, this should be a consideration.

During diagnostic, the LF is viewed as #1… RF as #2… RR as #3… LR as #4.

NEVER… NEVER… NEVER use any type of sealant or liquid balancer in the tire as this will plug or harm the pressure sensor/transmitter assembly located inside the tire.

A low tire pressure reading does not set a (DTC) Diagnostic Trouble Code.

And there is more… lots more, however the Dealer’s DRBIII is required for ALL diagnostic and programming.

After changing a total of ten sensors (Chrysler paid for four), I have now given up and I just covered the warning light with black electrical tape.
