AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Chrysler is calling it the "largest gathering ever of Prowlers." It should resemble a sea of purple — the only color that the car was offered in during its first year of production.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the retro vehicle that first appeared in 1993 as a concept car at the Detroit auto show, Chrysler is hosting an anniversary celebration from 5 to 10 p.m. EDT on August 16 at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum here. The Prowler had a short run of production, from 1997-2002 before it was discontinued.

Chrysler said about 175 Prowlers are expected at the event. Among participants will be members of the original Prowler Team that developed the vehicle. The automaker said that each of the 17 colors produced in the car's five-year run will be represented. Noteworthy colors included the two-tone black-and-silver combination in the "Black-tie edition" and High Voltage Blue Pearl Coat, the exterior look on the Conner Avenue edition.

Chrysler said more than 11,500 Prowlers were sold in the U.S. and Canada with the Plymouth or Chrysler badge.

What this means to you: Reserve August 16 if you're a true Prowler fan.

This kat is also painted HV Blue and resides somewhere up around the Northwest region of the US.

It's pouring right now - temps have been BONE CHILLING in the evenings,

we even had to go "winter clothing' shopping at Wal-Mart :mad:

D-Dude: we went to the Mercedes event @ Hangar 8 and on the way back..we had such nice weather and traffic (+ kid screaming to his parents about what a cool car the Prowler was)...SkanKat said "if D dude and D babe moved to Malibu we'll have 200K miles on each of the black prowlers" :eek2: there you go...365 days of cruising weather :biggrin:
