JBL Front & Rear Speaker Replacements…
Lots of Prowler Owners have replaced their failed Door Speaker with the highly acclaimed JBL Speakers that we provide as direct “plug ‘n play” units. These very satisfied owners have requested matching JBL Front & Rear Speaker replacements.
I am pleased to announce we are ready to ship these direct replacements that will further enhance your Prowler listening enjoyment… even with the top down and the radio blasting. It is incredible the way these JBL speakers enhance the OEM Audio System’s performance… they really sound GREAT… a noticeable improvement over the OEM speakers.
FYI… the Front & Rear Speakers are in fact the same size, but uniquely different with regards to mounting and wiring. We have enhanced these speaker’s mounting and connections for the DIY Prowler Owner insuring a trouble free and easy install.
The Front Speakers have direct “plug ‘n play” wiring connectors installed… just remove the top of the dash panel (pulls off, no screws) and remove the speakers using an off-set #2 Phillips screwdriver or 7mm socket and ratchet… unplug the OEM Speakers… plug in the JBL replacements… re-tighten… snap back on the dash panel… ENJOY!!!
The Rear Speaker have a modified wiring harness soldered in place… just remove the rear speaker enclosure cover (11 push in trim buttons) and then remove the speakers using a #2 Phillips screwdriver or 7mm socket… cut the speaker wires off the OEM speaker near where they are soldered. NOTE… you are not cutting the Prowler’s wiring harness… just the speaker’s extension wires and this is much easier than having to remove (lift up & move around) the trunk’s carpet, then locating, releasing and reinstalling the OEM pins. We have soldered the correct color wires (Black & Green ~ Black & Red) to the modified connectors and installed crimp style connectors… just remove some of the original speaker wiring insulation, match up the wire colors… insert and crimp. Additionally, you will notice that these replacement JBL Rear speakers have a “sealer” along the bottom edge (not required on the Front) to acoustically seal the speaker to the enclosure… take extra care that this remains intact during the installation process. Included is a small amount of this “sealer” which should be used to seal the JBL speaker wires exiting the enclosure. Once the speaker wires have been crimped, position and fit the JBL speaker to the enclosure insuring that the sealer is in place, then replace the previously removed screws. Reinstall the speaker enclosure cover… ENJOY!!!
The actual OEM sub-woofer inside this rear enclosure is a very unique 6.5” dual voice coil speaker… I have been unable to find a suitable replacement but I will continue my search should these become a replacement concern in the future.
If you need additional information regarding these Prowler specific JBL products, installation or to place an order, just give me a call toll free @ 800 669 3540. 8)
THANKS, Jay
