View Full Version : PTalk 10th Anniv Woodward Edition Poster Status Update

Dreamcast18

Allo Everyone!

The posters are expected to be arriving tomorrow! Can't wait to see it

We hope to turn around and ship them to everyone the same day...entirely dependent on when the delivery is made. Address labels and postage are all printed/paid and ready to go.

All posters will be going out USPS Priority Mail Insured w/Delivery Confirmation. Not leaving any chance of losing any poster.

We are currently on-track as per the original schedule of getting it out to Woodward-bound folks before they depart for the event.

Watch for another update tomorrow 8-)

July 30th Framing Update:

To all those that have purchased the poster, SkanKat and I found some good deals at Michaels (http://michaels.com/art/online/home).

Frames are going for 30%-50% off! So hurry over to one nearby to you (if there's one).

We went with 24x36" to create a black border around the poster:

http://www.michaels.com/online/images/product/large/posterframe_add1.jpg

You can go with 24x30" for a narrower border...entirely to each owner's preference. Some folks might prefer professional framing to these DIYs.

Am not sure when the sales end, so hurry over to one if you can.

Good guess Buddy! So be more specific...do you mean Black fonts over Red background?

p.s. For folks who might not have realized, the Photobook had Silver fonts over Prowler Purple background (as TooHip and Krusin Kat will say..the original Prowler color).

I would like like to know what it looks like. I can't just buy soething without looking at it first. I'd have to really really really really like it if i'd end up buying it.

And if things go they way they are.....and if no one objects, I'll be doing the saMe project (posters for people here) but with artwork that I'll be creating.

this is NOT about buying and selling things here in Prowltalk! it's about supporting and contributing to Prowltalk! - a place where we all love hanging out with each other and contributing to what we have to make this place a better place for all of us!

we all came up with different fundraising projects like the calendar, anniversary photobook and the woodward poster out of voluntary efforts and everything have been sold @ costs + token Prowltalk donation clearly stated by David to support the website!! we are not selling it for monetary benefits!

just like when you are going to watch a movie, you don't get to watch the movie first and decide if you really REALLY like it alot before you pay for it! you pay for the tickets of the movie first NOT knowing if you're gona love the entire production .. concept of the movie or not!!!

i am sure no one will have any negative objections to YOU or anyone volunteering to do any projects as part of the Prowler Community, be it whether you want to embark on a new project or be working on another poster! in fact, as a professional graphic designer, we would love to have you contribute your artistic talent to our community!!!

back to the original thread...we would like to thank everyone for supporting this project and also to David for dealing with the tedious administrative work again! :tu:

At no point was I under the iMpression that this project was done for Monetary benefits! I fully understand what the purpose is. I don't even own a Prowler yet but you guys have helped Me out with all the questions and coMMents that I've had so far. That is precisely why I suggested starting a project of this kind to support the site doing what I' good at (design), even if I don't take part on this one.

I fully take your point, but for the Movie analogy...well with a Movie you get to see teasers and trailers, so you get an idea of what you're gonna be in for. No such luck here.

I hate threads that get deviated.

I think compared to other projects on any other clubs/forum, David spelt out very clearly in the main order thread this was for purely to support the club, it even has the club's branding in the thread subject.

This is supposed to be a happy thread with the arrival of the posters, not to ask the same questions again and again, which has been asked in the main thread, answered there, and asked again here.

As for the movie analogy, the Photobook was a pre-cursor to the poster, folks who got the book or have seen the book knows what kind of pictures and look it will have.

If you do not want to make any purchase/ contribution without any preview, that is fully understandable. But do we need to go through the same question over and over again?

Nuff' said. I'm off my soap box now and off to the post office.

I fully take your point, but for the Movie analogy...well with a Movie you get to see teasers and trailers, so you get an idea of what you're gonna be in for. No such luck here.

Will have some important updates later tonight, so watch this space.

In the mean time, enjoy the label from the poster that is rightfully going to David :bows:bows

What a market at the Post Office! It was close to impossible to carry all the poster tubes thru the craziness. Some guy asked if we were working for an architecture firm (I guess he thought we were sending out design diagrams).

We tried as best as we could to turn-around and ship the posters out today but some will have to go tomorrow. In no specific order, it was just take->label->pack->seal->stamp.

Dropped off 6 posters this morning, and will drop off the rest later this afternoon.

The latest anyone should receive the posters is next Monday according to USPS Priority Mail expectations.

I sneaked a quick look this morning in natural daylight and realized why it was so tough to take a picture of it last night - the final print had a extremely high metallic gloss to it

I guess that's where the cost of the printing went!

Again, many thanks to all who have contributed to and supported this project! This project would not have been possible without you guys and gals! :bows:bows:bows

Back in the box and home rolled it out on the counter and found it to be creased about 1/3 of the way in from both ends and about half way down from the top and a couple of other small ones. The poster is beautiful, very happy that I got one and think that I will live with as is.
