We drove from Las Cruces New Mexico to Binghamton NY which is around 2100 miles in 38 hours. We did that in 1971, the last century. It was a family problem. I really don't think I can do that again. We do Colorado non-stop 600 miles. So what is your longest non-stop mileage drive. Contest closes in 37 1/2 days. Winner will be contacted through regular mail.
The contest is now open. Thank you on the great response on this contest.

And Norm did all but one hour of the driving. After about 20 hours, he thought I should drive
but I got lost - missed an exit, so he decided we would never get there unless he finished the
trip, so he did.

I can't top Norm's figure,,,,,but I've driven between Lincoln, NE and Mesa, AZ 'several times' over the years,,,,non-stop except for fuel and fast food = 1416 miles
Can't do that now-a-days,,,,,but I usually will take on 800 to 950 miles per day if I have to............

Thats a heck of a lot more than I would be willing to do.. Longest I've ever driven at one time was from Washington DC to Little Rock Arkansas, I guess about 600-650 miles. And THAT was a long time ago!

GOT TO PITT & SLEPT FOR 20 HOURS & LOST THE DAY WE GAINED----BELEIVE ME, YOU CAN'T SLEEP IN A 62 VW BUG----COMPARES TO TAKING A NAP WHILE WEED WHACKING, ONLY WORSE. A BIT OVER 1,500 MILES IN 22 SLEEPLESS HOURS------MAX TIME BEHIND WHEEL NOW IS 550 MILES---ANY LONGER & I FLY.

I used to drive 1450 miles every year to see my folks
~800 miles the first day and 600 or so the second
My stretch goal is to get to Ohio line first day
I did it a couple times in my 87 Thunderbird turbo coupe - it had an ET timer on the dash and a turbo charged 4 cyl - 2nd fastest car that year behind the Regal Grand National - One year I averaged including stops for gas and food OVER 70 mph for 800 plus miles. On the way back, I had the 85 mph speedo BURIED ( my guess was over 120 ) when I went past a sleeping ( I guess ) arkansas cop. For about 5 miles I assumed I was going to jail.
the first day looks like this - now its cheaper to fly and rent a car when I get there = plus it saves over 2 days travel time

The trip in my lightning would cost $650 just in gas - add in $150 - 200 for hotels plus $100 for food on the road and thats nearly $1000 - Im flying that trip in July and the tickets were under $300 - that leaves 600 to rent a car ...

I've driven across Canada 7 times... ususally took my time but remember one year went from Fernie British Columbia to Thunder Bay, Ontario in 31 hours by myself. Stopped for Coffee and sandwiches a few times but did the run straight through..... It was in the dead of winter and 35 below zero and windy in the prairies, the last 10 hours was in a snow storm. The snow was coming straight at me and caused my eyes to go crossed the last hour of the drive. Did it in a 71 Mustang.....got a motel in TBay but it took 3 hours before I could key down enough to go to sleep....

By the way we did the drive in a 1970 Opel Gt.
We also had two dogs with us, a japanese spitz and a mini-poodle. Not too
bad for a two seater. We were in a hurry and no dog sitter on short notice.
If you are unfamiliar with an Opel GT this is what it looked like.

Norm and my brother took a trip about 20 years ago from Las Cruces, NM to
Zephyrhills, Fl (older brother lives there year round) approx 1800 miles.
Drove straight through, in a corvette with no A/C and it was in the summertime.
Not a good memory :smflame:

The longest trip in the Prowler was the one back from Tulsa,OK - around 700 miles in 11 hours. And that's about as much as I can handle in the Prowler.

Longest for me in Prowler, was when I flew to Augusta Georgia one morning, bought and signed all the paperwork for the car and then took off by like 1pm with the trailer too and headed back for FL with my brother-in-law's surprise birthday present. About 9 hours and 600 miles.

...made several trips from San Antonio Tx. to New Castle Indiana and back in the early 1970s......about 1250 miles in 19 hours (averaged 65mph).....had a '73 CUDA with a 340 and a small gas tank.....stopped alot for gas, Cokes and snax only....
...I have always driven to and from Daytona/Orlando/Clearwater straight thru.....Daytona took 16 hours, Orlando about 17 I think....the Clearwater trip was me, a buddy of mine and a '90 Yelo Indy Vette...fastest trip of the bunch :D:

It wasn't in my Prowler, but in 1996 I traveled from Frazier Park CA to Jacksonville FL. (2510mi) in 2-1/2 days pulling a stock trailer. I only stopped for fuel where I could get fast food. I did that four times that year and got to the point when I got to Mississippi I felt that I was almost home. This last June I drove from Chico CA to East Palatka FL. in five days (2550mi). I'm older now and spend the nights in the comfort of a motel.
