Shelby Package on a Mustang GT

OK, I need a little help. I stopped at a semi-local Ford dealer this morning because they had what I thought at first glance was a 2007 Hertz Shelby.

Turns out it started out life as a Mustang GT and had what the dealer listed as $19,000 worth of Shelby add-ons. They did not break down what was put on the GT and I did not stick around to ask because I thought I would be able to easily find out more information on the web.

Well, no luck so far. Can someone point me in the right direction to find shelby pricing?

The GT stickered for 31 + the 19 in Shelby add-ons brought list to $50 large, and they were showing about a 5500 discount, so the car could be bought for 44,000. Still seamed rather high to me, but what do I know. Maybe some of you guys that have been playing with Shelbys and GT's can chime in.

I guess the Shelby sticker was on the car, I do remember seing the 1000 gas guzzler tax.

The Shelby GT is just a joke from Ford to make some extra $$ - got a little more HP and lots of plastic parts added but unless it's a GT500 (the one David's got) don't waste your time (and money) ;-)

I think after the AWESOME success of the GT500 they (ford) decided to 'cashi in' a bit more and offer ANOTHER "Shelby" (which is NOT really a Shelby since it's ONLY got 330 HP) and Dealer of course mark it up OUTRAGEOUSLY :roll: .

About 6 months ago I SERIOUSLY considered getting a GT 500 since I loved the power and all but I was NOT willing to spend $ 55K+ for one - after all it's JUST A MUSTANG (Shelby or not) so I went 'another way' and 'upgraded' our Mustang GT :mrgreen:

Personally I don't think that "Shelby GT" is worth that EXTRA $$ just cuz it wears a "Shelby badge" , but that's just me !

I've been kicking around the idea, just have to convince the wife it's time for something new. There is a prowler on the other site that I would love to get, but even less chance of that over the mustang.:mrgreen::mrgreen:

I hear ya ! We had a 1999 Mustang GT Convertible (35th Anniv. Edition) and traded it in in 2001 for our Black Prowler.

Ever since the '05 'stang came out I LOVED the look AND all the improvements they made vs the prior models AND of course the 300 HP on the GT :mrgreen:, so last year I convinced the wife that we REALLY needed one :lol:

If getting a used Stang...make sure its not from Hertz fleet...they're badly beaten up....speaking from experience :rolleyes:

with the dealer markups on the GT500 Mustangs, you can buy a lightly used Viper for the same $$$ or less....I would rather have a $90k car for $55K, than a $40K car for $55K.....look at a Viper, good deals out there

There are lots of mustangs coming out and hard to keep with..

shelby and ford are going do 5 or 6 deals next year...i can't keep up with them all...

in 2007 they are making 6000 shelby GT which only comes in black or white and it's the same car they made for Hertz(GT-H) the mark up from shelby (sai) is only 9k on the top off the GT base price (30k)..
