View Full Version : Time to Play: What's My Mod?

OK, first off: Skankat, Dreamcast, Norm & Pat are not allowed to participate (especially since I stole this from Norm!)
Here's a before and after picture of a mod I had done today. Kinda subtle but you should be able to figure it out. Name That Mod!
(Oh, by the way, that's my new hardtop . . but it has nothing to do with what you're looking for.)

This must me some sort of trick question. I don't see anything different. By the way next time you want something on e-bay let me know and I won't bid up the price......

First, Thanks to Toolhead for the compliment and to Blackcat for offering not to bid on the SS bars. But, honestly, I waited until the last day, so it was probably my fault you had to pay more for them!
Piddler pretty much nailed all of my previous mods, but I had a couple of things done today that are less obvious. First, you can't see it, but I had a clear overlay done on the section of the rear decklid where the hardtop sits (like the chrome and black dek-protek pieces some of you have seen) This was a Dreamcast / Skankat innovation as they had both their cats done here and even paved the way for me to recieve a 10% Prowltalk discount! And, I had smoke overlays done on the two orange turn signal indicators on the front. But, none of that is visible in this picture.
What you should be able to see in the picture (although I'll admit it's tough because of the silver paint and the overcast sky) is a .27" wide flat black stripe running along the drivers door that connects the gaps that run along the front and rear hoods. It looks amazing in person . . . Believe it or not, it really makes the car look more balanced. I kinda wished now that I had them run the stripe up the side relief indent on the hardtop. Well, maybe next time!
Credit goes to Norm who pays way to much attention to detail and was (to my knowledge) the pioneer in this technique.:bows :bows :bows
Here's a before and after close-up of the area:

Ok I see it. The hardtop would definetly finish it off. By the way I didn't win the e-bay thing either. Somebody that goes by flyboy outbid me with 5 seconds to go. I'll figure out the bidding thing some day....:rll: :rll: :rll:

Scott: Sleek Silver! One of the best I've seen :tu: :tu: :tu:
Glad StickerCity worked out!
We will use them again when the Orange kat's nose is repainted for a custom full frontal clear bra treatment.

Thanks DC. And, thank you for arranging the discount on top of their already reasonable prices.
Yeah, Those guys are great. I came away with the feeling that there wasn't anything they couldn't do.
I'm going to start taking the kat apart this weekend so I can install the new Tom Mills pan with bumpers and hitch, send the front wheels out for rechrome, have the rear bumpers filled and painted black, send the nose out for repaint, and the black rear fender splashguards and mudflaps painted silver. Once everything comes back, I'll go back to Sticker City to have the front clear bra installed, the fender splashguards covered in clear and maybe add the hardtop stripe.

Thanks 24K . . .Actually, I'm stealing your splashguard idea after seeing your car this weekend. Your car looks awesome with the shiny smooth guards.
I forgot to ask, though: Did you have the front clear bra done too? . . . Or just the upper doors, deck cover, and splashguards?

That is really wild. Obviously I can't do it cuz of my black, but it looks like it should have been like that from the beginning. It does make it look more balanced and the addition for the hard top would be the final touch...imo. Nice job and 1 sweet silver.:tu:
