I was wondering if anyone knew of a source for extended wheel studs. I used a 1/4" spacer on the fronts and would like to get a wheel stud 1/4" longer than stock to maintain the same number of threads on the lug nuts.

does anyone know the length of the oem stock studs ?

any hints where to get the longer replacements ?

any tricks to getting the old ones out and installing the new ones ?

any help would be greatly appreciated...:tu:

Jim, I'm not sure that I would use this method but, I have replaced wheel studs on a number of vehicles over the years.

Just smacked them with a large hammer to remove the old stud and use the lug nut and some washers to pull the new one into the hole by tightening the nut.

I'm sure there must be a special tool to remove and install the studs but down on the farm we use what ever we have handy, lol.

Jim, I was thinking about how to remove the studs by pressing them out.

How about a large c-clamp and a socket large enough for the head of the stud to fit into?

Take one out and go down to the local auto parts store and see if they can get you a longer stud. I'm sure someone makes what your looking for.

I picket up the E-T nuts yesterday and installed them on the car last night...

I feel much more confident with these, got lots of threads on the stud now instead of only 3 turns with the other type...

here is the difference...
