Well Tomorrow has come... The Car of Tomorrow that is....and what better place to beat it up at than Bristol... The Track that brings out the worst in the drivers...
We got a bumper car type race here on this short track... guys spin out other drivers and in a couple laps they catch back up to do some payback....
Racing this year hasn't seen much driver conflict, no helmet throwing, no cat fights in the pits... pretty "prozac" like behavior... well thats all out the window... they a drunk on whiskey and looking for trouble....
I used to hate the short tracks.... but have learned to love them as they do exactly what I would like to do in city traffic....lol...
Jeffy got the pole, the question is how long will it take a faster car to nudge him outta the way....its going to happen, just who is going to do it ??????
Still got the prize for the first person to post the winner.....
lets hear it... give us your finishing first five and a Darkhorse pick...
green green green...... lets get-r-dun in bristol

Thanks for the Congrats. I couldn't have done it without Kyle!! Seriously, he has been running great, getting very close to a win. It was his time and yes, Burton could have taken him out, we have seen it in the past. Good race I thought and the car is what it is.......raceable.:nana2

Well, I was not impressed by the COT. Brand recognition is over. They might as well call them all Yugo's! The drivers will adjust, just like they have to all other changes. That said, it was a good race.

Right on Dave,,,,,,,,,,,,not impressed with that POS. We've been close for many years,,,now, we can say the term "stock cars" is history. They are all the same,,,,no brand,,,,,,,BRAND X,,,,,,bunch of crap. Started with that front wheel drive MonteCarlo being allowed to race,,,and has gone downhill ever since. Those race fans must be morons if they claim to have brand loyality!
Great job Tom,,,,picking the winner!
Smoke had 'em coverage until that pump went out,,,,,,must be made by the same company that makes the OEM Prowler fuel pump,,,lol.
What happened to Sadler? He was running in the top four for a long time,,,,,,,,I took the trash out and the neighbor lady started chatting with me,,,,and when I came back in,,Sadler was running 35th. WTF?
Tom - be careful opening that prize package from Jimbo >> rumor has it that it is a Nova Scotia frozen dog turd,,,,starting to thaw out!!!
Paper clip next week,,,,,,,,,,I dislike these short tracks....
Jimbo - Mikey might be looking for a job soon,,,,,send him your local want ads. What a loser he is, and I'll quit watching if that freak makes it to the announcer's booth!

We watched a little of it yesterday. My son liked the looks of the COT. I think they look like the cars the kids are running around town in, bolt on a big ass wing and a fart can and there you go.
One question, were did they put the big ass sound system and the huge bass box in the COT? Got to attract that younger fan you know!
Sorry, I guess that I liked the days when the cars actually were stripped versions of what was on the showroom floor.

I have to agree that there certainly is no difference in the cars anymore. It has been like that and it just got worse. Someone must be sneaking something into my koolaid because I just seem to like the racing moRe and more. We all know all the same arguements about when the cars were different and the drivers weren't goody boys, and that is ALL acurate. I think that my situation is because of how many of the other"major" sports have fallen. The modern pro athlete is difficult to watch these days and I get pushed to racing more and more, even with all the bs. Enough of that. I will check the kool aid. I will get the FBI to check out any package from the frozen north . OOPS, maybe I shouldn't have said FBI. Sorry Jimbo!:rll: lol.
I don't know what happened to Sadler either.
At least no phantom yellow flags at the end.
There is only room for 1 Waltrip in the booth. He was a kick yesterday starting the race. He used to own the joint.
Hope I have the crystal ball next week in Martinsville. UH, OH, Another small track.

:) Yeah,,,,when Jarrett hit the wall,,,,,his rear trunk lid and sky wing came loose and nearly off [teathered on via new nascar rules],,,,,,I thought I seen the boom box attached to the underside of the trunk lid. Next,,,it'll be giant fart can exhaust tips/mufflers. Its the end of the world,,,I tell ya,,,,the end of the world.

I was only around 9 or 10 , but the way I hear it when the Super Bees and the Daytonas showed up on Nascar tracks in 69 and 70 , with the huge wings and the funny, sharp noses, everyone had a shit fit, and they banned them in 2 years. But those cars ran like crazy, and now are some of the most expensive collecter cars. Can anybody fill me in on how some of that went down back then??? I would love to know what the reaction was like when those things showed up. I sure wish I had one now. AC, you weren't around then, were you?

Tom - I'm only 38,,,,,I was just a baby back in the early 70's

I heard they ran about 210 on the high banked, super tracks.....

I was in college in those days, but I remember the winged cars on the track.....NASCAR's solution was to ban the cars. By the way Tom, they were Superbirds and Daytonas, not Super Bees. The Super Bee was another Dodge model, but I don't recall them ever being on the track.

Dave, you are totaly correct. Super Bee looked funny when I typed it, I just couldn't think of the right name. The Super Bee is a Ram version or was. Those cars dominated and then they banned them. 200 MPH, AND STABLE, WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT? I just wonder what the public reaction to those cars was.
I knew you were too young to know the details Larry.

I can remember a local dealer having a Superbird on the showroom floor. It sat there for months. Finally, they removed the wing and replaced the front end with standard 1970 sheet metal and the car sold within a week.

There were 2 superbirds that went by my house every morning and evening when I was a kid. One purple and one lime green.
I always thought that the down fall of the look was the narrow wheels and the ride height. Lower them and put some wide wheels / tires, I think they would look killer.
Every week r. gordon crashes someone, my cousin and I bet on what lap he will crash and who! Surprised he don't hit the pace car!-MKAT
