After suffering along with the iCruz ipod interface, I finally gave up on it this weekend. What a POS! I pulled it all out and reinstalled my CD changer and am much happier.
I have not given up entirely on the iPod, though. I bought an auxillary adapter port from a company called Installer.com, which will allow me to just plug the iPod directly into the stock Infinity stereo. It will essentially just be a mini DIN plug outlet. So, I will control the volume through the stereo, and manually use the iPod as if I were listening to it through headphones. I have this set-up in my Prius and it works just fine.
When I want to use an iPod in the Prowler, I should be able to just unplug the CD changer behind the passenger seat, plug the ipod and auxillary adapter into the cable that runs from just beneath the CD changer to the back of the radio, and put the ipod in the center console. I'll let you know how it works out.
But whatever you do . . stay away from Monster Cable and their iCruz interface. It is worthless!
