Hi All,
This thread has been created to specifically answer ANY questions with regards to the photos for the Photobook so as not to clog up the main Photobook thread.
Before we go any further, I'll like to re-cap the following:
Photo Requirements:
- 4 megapixel minimal (this is a professionally printed book, please don't send me anything of lesser resolution)
- Leave enough buffer between the edges of the kat and the border of the photo (i.e., do
not take a photo with your wheel right at the edge of the border)
- Artistic shots are welcomed!
- Prowler art are also welcomed!
- Please color correct or photo-fix prior to sending it over.
- Original full sized files to be emailed to: skankat@gmail.com
(https://www.nazem.net:2096/horde/imp/message.php?index=2062)- Be receptive to the idea that your pictures MIGHT be rejected and you be asked to take more pictures
- TRUST the Art Director to do a good job!
- The earlier you submit the pictures, the faster you get feedback if any changes are required.
- Most importantly, the pictures MUST BE taken by you.
Now, on to some new questions I have received:
Profile Pages:
These are 1~2 page photo spreads for the first 20 contributors. Your PTalk Name (e.g., SkanKat) and location (e.g., Pasadena, CA) will be printed on the pages. Depending on the quality of your submissions, you may get 1 or 2 page for your profile. So as mentioned, take as many pictures as possible and submit them!
In addition, if you send me a good number of pictures, they will be also be used for the montage pages!
Montage Pages:
These are pages that will have a mix of Prowler pictures from all contributors including the wait-listed folks! These pages are OPEN TO ALL PTalk members!
- 20 Profile contributors: As mentioned, if you submitted multiple good pictures, those will make it to the montage pages too!
- Wait-listed contributors: Please submit photos too! All good pictures will be used in the montage pages!
- Open contributors: Those that are not on the profile or wait-list, you can also submit pictures for usage on the montage pages. I already have a couple REALLY good ones that have been submitted. Open contributors submitting photos MUST include your PTalk user name. I don't know who is who.
By the final draft, I will publish a list of PTalk members who's submissions have made the montage pages.
What constitutes a good picture?
However, just because you submitted a photo, there's no guarantee that it will make the final print.
- Only GOOD pictures will be used.
- This is going to be a high-quality bookstore type professional book, so take a look at those glossy car books for reference of what constitutes a GOOD picture.
- This is not a D-I-Y high-schooler photo scrap book. Set your standards high! ;-)
- If you want your Kat to stand-out...think CREATIVE. I have received some really creative shots, please keep those coming!
Picture Issues I have Encountered:
These are some issues I have seen from the current submissions:
- Blurred/Noisy pictures. Make sure you turn DIGITAL ZOOM off!
- Low resolution. See above.
- Bad lighting. (Watch for shadows and avoid using built-in camera flash)
- Overexposure. (take the picture during early morning or sunset to avoid this!)
Dateline Extensions:
i've received requests for dateline extensions from folks can't get out there to take pictures due to weather constraints. i've extended the dateline to April 9th for these folks.
