wow.... it has been a long week off of Nascar, but the boys of Thunder are rested up and ready to put the pedal to the metal...

Sunday, 4pm on Fox

As is the Vegas style, they threw buckets of cash at this already great track to resurface and re-work it into shape for this season the banking went from 12 degrees to 20....there will be some very fast speeds here and more side by side racing...

Gotta love it ! ....The first four starting positions are Dodges, I wonder when the last time that happened ?

I still have a prize for the first person to post the winner of the race...

Post your top 5 and a darkhorse pick.

OK... so put on the dark glasses, the Elvis suit, comb your hair just right, look in the mirror and say..... Thank you, thank you very much...and roll 7's

green... green...green...:nana2 :nana2 :nana2

Did you catch the NASCAR special they had on QVC last night Jim? I couldn't believe the stuff they were selling.
They had an all metal 1:18 scale...at least I think it was...model of I think it was the Home Depot car. It was going for close to $200.00:shock:
A lot of people got the NASCAR bug. I guess I'm one of the few that don't.

I didn't see it....$200 sounds a bit pricey for a model....

I would love to go to a race someday, they keep talking about building a track in Toronto area....It would be interesting to see a race that would have to be run on a salted road with pot holes.....

Somehow we are gonna get you to race Jimbo. And anyone who doesn't have the bug yet, just get to a race. Big bucks these days, but it is entertaining for sure. Maybe not the kind of racing from the days of old, but that is another discussion. Vegas is REALLY going to be interesting. Stewart says the speeds are ridiculous. New banking, new tires, new fuel cell. It all makes for something special today and Sunday. Do I have time to get there?:nana2 Maybe next year.

I've been listening to the boys talk about the track today. They're not real happy. They said in about a year the new track will be ready for racing. Should be fun to watch........:nana2

Tony says it will be boring for the fans.....

but a dozen hit the wall during practise and qualifying...

I hate it when they make excuses before the race....

This is going to be a great race.....:nana2

Real hard hit, just missed the safe wall. I like Tony, but everything he has to say is not the gospel. He loves to hear himself . Alot of different takes on the new track.

halicat
03-10-2007, 01:49 PM
10 MPH faster on the new track.... that makes a big difference....:burnout

Jeff Burton wins it ....

Great sportsmanship by Kyle Busch in the end....my hat is off to the kid...no shame being second.. he gave it all.

Crybaby came in 3rd...I'm a Tony fan but I hate it when he whines..

Tomorrows race should be fantastic...:bows

Forgot to mention,,,,,,,,,only one Toyota 'drove' their way into the starting field >> Dave Blaney starting 11th.

Over the Hill Jarrett got in [43rd] with a past champion's provisional.

Toyotas not making the race today:

A.J. Allmendinger, Toyota
Brian Vickers, Toyota
David Reutimann, Toyota
Jeremy Mayfield, Toyota
Michael Waltrip, Toyota

Got to be some pissed off Toyota big brass this weekend,,,,,,,they don't come to the party not to dance. Hoping they'll kick that stupid smile off Mikey Waltrip useless face, and withdraw funding to his loser team!
What a joke!

halicat
03-11-2007, 06:38 AM
They sucked shit at the Busch race yesterday...

Blaney's Toyota finished 7 laps down and 2 others crashed together....

Mikey needs to go back to the Nappa classroom and learn to spell "Failure"

:devil

Hopefully Tom, Bill and Jim will post their picks before the green drops...

I can't believe, I am saying this, but in defense of Toyota, Cup racing has a longer learning curve than the trucks and it will take them time to work things out. Waltrip was probably not the best choice, but maybe that was all they could get in terms of high profile personalities.

halicat
03-11-2007, 09:44 AM
Maybe it would have been smarter to just go with the Busch series the first years out...
then go to Cup series after they caught on a bit....

This year is going to be costly for them..

AC-INXS
03-11-2007, 09:58 AM
Dave - I understand,,,,,,,,,,,took Toyota three yrs to get the Indy engines down right,,,,,then they won everything.

Agree,,,,should have entered Busch series first for a year.

Go ahead guys,,,,,,,make your selections,,,,,the race starts in four hours!

halicat

I'm ready.....

Kyle Busch
Tony Stewart
Kurt Busch
Jeff Burton

Dark horse: Kasey Kahne

"after 200 miles half the field will be wrecked......"

Damn Jimbo,,,,I was going to listen to it out in the garage,,,,,,but I don't want to miss the action you are predicting!!!

Eight Dodges up front to start,,,,,,you'd think this would be their week!

Jarrett will be 5 laps down after 100 miles,,,,,,,

AC,

Did you see the Busch Race yesterday ?

they were saying it was like driving on Black ice....

the Cup cars with 100 more HP and a smaller spoiler will be out of control... especially on the restarts... Goodyear is providing tires that have a hard compound... no sticky....lol

AC-INXS
03-11-2007, 11:45 AM
I missed that race,,,,,,,,,,,,,,thought it started later and would finish after sunset.

Lots of wrecks then,,,,,,,,,,,,good. Helps the economy grow when they have to rebuild or scrap cars after each race,,lol.

I just seen Mikey Waltrip running naked past the start/finish line in the pre-race show :devil Yes,,it was him,,,,,,with his NA PA tats on his butt cheeks!!! It seems NAPA is pissed he can't get their car into the race via speed,,, for some national advertisement,,,,,,,,so they demanded this stunt to get some air time on tv.

How much longer can NAPA and Toyota put up with him?
You're right,,,,guess they are stuck with him, lol.

BTW,,,,is wasn't a pleasant sight seeing him run that way,,,,,,Sno would have enjoyed it though   :rll:
Sno doesn't read the NASCAR threads,,,so I can rag on him here, lol :devil

It was a good race, not quite what I expected.....

I thought there would be more mayhem...

Johnson
Gordon
Hamlin
Kennseth
Martin

The #48 team was strong all day and deserved the win....

Atlanta next week.....very fast track... should be very exciting...

halicat
03-11-2007, 06:10 PM
still got the prize.....maybe someone will get it next week:tu:

AC-INXS
03-11-2007, 09:23 PM
I'll take Smoke to win next week at Atlanta,,,,,,,just like his favorite, home track [Home Depot].............

Dodges were once again,,,,,disappointing today. All those top starting positions,,,,pissed away. Fords weren't much better. Toyota,,,sucked big time! Seems Chevies did their homework after a couple of years of Rousch/Ford dominance. I can pull for Smoke, Hamlin, and Mark Martin in their Chevies,,,,,but not for the rest of them.

Off to the Redneck South circuit,,,,,lol

mopardave
03-12-2007, 05:27 AM
AC: The Redneck South Circuit is where it all began. The western tracks (except Riverside) are all just upstarts taking race dates away from the south.

Is it true no one picked JJ for the win. I, COULDA ,SHOULDA ,WOULDA, thats easy for me to say. I brought my youngest to his first hockey game , missed the race. BUT, this tivo thing is great. JJ was the only one not complaining all week. I see why. Hendrick had it figured out....1-2. The track wAs a challenge. SO WHAT, THEY ARE RACE DRIVERS. Mark Martin is still up near the top, what does he do now?

halicat
03-12-2007, 08:22 AM
Mark is never going to retire.....he can't stay away from it.

I understand about Tater Tot #8 just not paying attention and pitting when pit road was closed, but what was up with Kyle Busch not taking any tires on that second from last stop ? That was one of the dumbest things i've seen for a while....no one else could touch the kid before that boner....worked out well for JJ, he didn't have a fast team mate to compete with at the end...

hmmmmmmmmmm......
