GENEVA — Bound for Geneva is the Dodge Demon roadster concept, outfitted with the same 2.4-liter World Engine found in the 2007 Dodge Caliber (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/ViewModelDetail/make=Dodge/model=Caliber). Should the Demon make it to production, it's likely to carry a more reasonable price tag than the $84,000 Dodge Viper (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/ViewModelDetail/make=Dodge/model=Viper).

Dodge describes the Demon as "an attainable dream car." It is not giving away any plans for production, but such a vehicle would slot nicely into the Dodge lineup, especially next to its V10 big brother, the Viper. And it wouldn't be saddled with the $3,000 gas-guzzler tax that bedevils the brand's flagship roadster. The Demon's four-cylinder engine produces 172 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 165 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm. It is linked to a six-speed manual transmission.

The car is decked out in Bright Amber Pearl paint, with a Carbon Black cabin. Dodge says it rides on a 95.6-inch wheelbase with a 51.8-inch overall height and a 156.5-inch overall length. Estimated curb weight is 2,600 pounds.

Exterior styling cues include the signature Dodge crosshair grille, projector headlamps, a hood that is hinged at the front and 19-inch brushed aluminum wheels. Dodge designers say they were inspired by "timeless British sports cars" when it came to creating the fairly simple cabin with its three-spoke steering wheel and four-gauge cluster. The floor console is not attached to the instrument panel and is dominated by a silver-and-black manual shift knob. The black seats are topstitched with silver thread.

The Demon makes its formal debut on March 6.

What this means to you: The Demon concept will undoubtedly be one of the showstoppers at Geneva as Dodge searches for ways to round out its product portfolio.

Nice looking mini Viper but disappointing HP figures for a 2600 lb car. Needs another 80hp to compare to a Prowler hp/weight ratio.

They will have the 300 HP turbo 4 banger in it if it goes into production. HP will probably be up to 325 by then. It will fly. :nana2

Pretty good looking little car, but given D-C's current financial trouble, it will need to be priced to compete with the Pontiac and Saturn sports cars. In other words, it needs to have mass market appeal until D-C turns the corner. JMO
