When I open my doors, without the key in the ignition, all the runnning lights come on. The chime starts chiming and the heater fan comes on if it is turned up. If I shut the doors, everything stops except for the running lights which stay on for a short period and then shut off. Any expertise here on that?:confused::confused:

It sounds like it might be a ground problem.

First time I ever heard of anything like that. Could it be a chip?

At first I thought it was a bad DTRL module. My car came from Texas and had to be fitted with DTR lights. This was done before I bought it. But today I noticed the heater fan also comes on so now I'm not sure.

Does the car have an aftermarket alarm or has any other electronic "gizmo" been added? Sounds like a wiring short/crossed wire to me, poissibly with an ignition wire.

Nope just the DTRL

I have been told that the running lights coming on is normal. Is that what you guys have?

Just took a stroll downstairs. Just the interior lights go on. Maybe the previous owner had the "light mod" done, but not entirely right? You should contact him.

hmmmmmm... I might have to change channels to diagnose this problem.

Electronic glitches are tough ones. Hope you find a good tech that can trace the problem.

Or i can just live with the little quirk. It doesn't bother me. Just can't leave the doors open for a long time and wear down the battery. My new sweet thunder exhaust from Jerry should drowned out the chime sound.

Jay says basically the same thing as Katmat.

Check ALL grounds, especially to the Body Computer located in the driver's kick panel and don't forget to check EVERY fuse in both fuse box locations with a test light... J
