We appreciate all the votes and support Prowler is receiving for Best In Show competition! Thank You All !!

Also, for those of you of the Savannah, GA area, check this out!.... http://www.savannahbest.com/family/askthevet.htm
This lady veterinarian in Savannah, GA is part of the Akita community and Akita Rescue. She also writes a column and is helping solicit votes for Prowler, too.... (via her newspaper column website). The Akita people are excited for Prowler the dog to be in the spotlight as their breed is somewhat unknown to the general public (kinda like the car, huh?). We are even getting votes and email support from akita lovers in England.
So cool! :tu: :nana2

Voting continues through February 18th!!

This final round of voting won't show us the vote tally for the BEST IN SHOW candidates. Hopefully, that won't cause less interest in voting, but maybe the "unknown" will spur voters into voting more frequently....?? Anyway, I guess we'll know the winner only when Purina/NBCU announces same after February 18th. Please vote as often as you can. The system allows voting from the same computer (IP address) once every 2 hours or so. Any and all votes for Prowler the dog are very appreciated. Thanks!

We are really excited as Prowler made the Houston Chronicle newspaper this morning. The article is on page 2 of the LifeStyle section and is listed as "An Akita by another name." At this time I do not find the article on-line but will keep looking ..... ( www.chron.com (http://www.chron.com/) )

Mill's and Roger's Akita Prowler is in the news :tu:

Here's the linky to the article:

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/life/4538464.html

Competitors in the online competition Dog Show USA have various tales.
• Rudy the English cocker spaniel rebounded from a sad physical state.
• Mixed-breed Tigger visits hospitals as a therapy dog.
• Jiggs the Dalmatian reportedly can catch whipped cream squirted from a can.
• Zak, a German shepherd, is afraid of vacuum cleaners.
They are all cute dogs with interesting stories, yet none can compete with Houston's entry when it comes to stately names: Wicca's on the Prowl at Kyo-Ken.
"Wicca is the kennel he came from, and it's not a (witch) connotation for 'Wicca.' Kyo-Ken is my kennel, which means strong and healthy in Japanese," Kathy Mills said.
Most humans just call the 100-pound Akita "Prowler" or "cute and cuddly."
Mills gave the puppy to her boyfriend, Dalton Rogers, for his 50th birthday. The pup was named for Rogers' treasured car, a bright-yellow Chrysler Prowler.
Mills and Rogers entered Prowler in the dog contest following Thanksgiving. After 200,000 votes were tallied, it was announced Tuesday that Prowler is one of eight finalists. Each finalist gets a year's supply of Purina Pro Plan dog food. Prowler's edible winnings will be donated to an Akita rescue group, Mills said.
The top dog, which will be announced Feb. 25 at the International Kennel Club Dog Show in Chicago, earns a trip for two humans and a canine to the National Dog Show in Philadelphia.
Twenty-month-old Prowler earned enough points to be an AKC champion when he was 18 months old. In a couple of years Prowler will be ready to compete with the big dogs.
"Our ultimate dream is to get to the Westminster Dog Show," Mills said.
