While this sounds like a good idea I would not cover it outside.
Eventually the wind moving the car cover around will cause the cover to rub thru the paint. Learned this the hard way on a 79 Trans Am I left covered outside. Had an all cotton California Car Cover. :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

If you start out with crappy paint, it just might rub itself out....:mrgreen:

Well I live next to a beach and sand is a problem. I store it inside in the winter but I need protection from the sand during the summer. i have done it before on other cars without problems.

Found an OEM cover on kijiji for $100.00.
