Looks like a thread mentioning the excellent calendar project done by this site has been eaten up by the latest server 'hotfix'!

bummer...kudos to those that posted on that thread!

I sent the person an email that they should check out this great site.
I got a positive reply which should (I hope) translate into another new member here.

Do you think they are a tad intimidated? Why else would they do the disappearing thread act? :rll::mrgreen:

When you click on to read you get the "sorry we can not find the message" statement!

its pretty standard for sites to try to limit cross promotion of competing sites
I understand not wanting my bandwidth and resources to promote a competing site but the other way to think about it is to be flattered and to try to develop your site as much as possible and squash the competitors based on content, reliability, perception and performance

But as was mentioned censorship is manually applied on the case where the site is bothered. In other words if a normal site werent worried about prowltalk they would never bother to edit or censor.

Why didn't POA just sell Midwest Boy one of their calendars?
Oh, that's right . . . . :rll: :rll: :rll:

I understand and completely agree about your argument of competing sites and killing the competition. BUT ... to me, this is not a profit making venture. It is much more of an ORG site than anything and I assume (based on them telling people such) that they are not there for making money either. So why would you care? I mean certainly nobody here cares about referencing POA as we see fit. They didn't even produce a calendar, and then they erase comments made about someone that did ?? Are they really doing their membership group a service by doing that? or are they taking away an opportnity from them?

Krzy: U just hit the hammer smack on the nail :tu:
Unfortunately, most folks do not realize that POA is not really a non-profit org (compared to ProwlTalk which is not only non-profit but also owes its existance to the courtesy of David's charity!).

I have to give the POA police credit for quickly deleting posts/threads before the Internet Spiders archive them. For those who were from way back, you will know that some ProwlTalks folks were kicked/banned from POA for querying the 'non-profit/loss-making' status of POA.

It is interesting that if you're a non-profit org, Sarbanes/Oxley wil not apply to you. In short, u can do alot of paper-moving/slight of hand stuff that will never be known. If someone can delete threads/posts to hide something, what can they do with the books :?:

No organization of these sizes would be subject to sarbox

A friend used to work for a $5B non-profit org..no sarbox either.

Recent non-profit org was found to have 'over-billed' the Feds by $200M++ after an audit by the Fedx..punishment? Zilk...its just tax payer's money lost :-?
