I've always been a big fan of Van Halen... have many of their CD's and saw them live in Halifax when Daviv Lee Roth was the frontman. It was an awesome concert....I always have a VH disc in the Kat
Eddie Van Halen looks like hell now... years of chain smoking have taken its toll on him but the man can play, and he loves his work...I enjoyed them better with Sammy Haggar singing... they put out a DVD concert video called "Live without a net".............its a rush.

Sources tell Billboard.com a contract could be signed as soon as today for Live Nation to produce a 40-date amphitheatre tour by Van Halen this summer, with original frontman David Lee Roth back in the fold for the first time in more than 20 years. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen's 15-year-old son Wolfgang recently stepped in for original bassist Michael Anthony in the new incarnation of the group, which also features drummer Alex Van Halen.

I thought they hated each other's guts ???
I read yesterday that the Police are also getting back together and are planning a "reunion tour".
I thought they hated each other's guts,too ??!!!!
What's going on ? They all made some new year's resolutions not to hate each other anymore ?
Well, who cares - it's great for the fans !!!!!

Maybe they have discovered that they can make money by touring again. Money can smooth over lots of things.....

I guess money changes everything. It's kind of sad, but that's how the world works.

Money is a big motivator, but I think there's might be more to it than that. Hell, we all remember the good old days when there was REAL creative rock and roll.
Not long ago I was reading something about Andy Summers of the Police and he said when the three Police members split they did not think it would be forever. He said they all still had plenty of creativity left and that there were plenty of songs they could have written and recorded. He said the Police were a long way from fizzling out. He said Sting wanted to do some solo work and what should have happened is they should have agreed Sting would do his recording and they would then get back together to continue Sting.
Also have read that Genesis has gotten back together and will tour this summer. Sadly, Peter Gabriel will not be their front-man.

They can spout artisitic creativity all they want. But, if no one pays to see them or buy their recordings, creativity will take a back seat to nostalgia.

Went to see them in Ft. Lauderdale like 2 years ago with Sammy Hagar, and boy did they sound horrible. Eddie all strung out, and Sammy was fat and wearing like a jogging suit. Stick to your CD's and memories in your mind.

Yeah, well with Eddie, it was whisky, a bottle + a day Jack Daniels habit I think is what did him in. I mean damn being married to Valerie Bertinelli and all that money ... and he still pissed it all away. Sad.....
I remember when I was in High School and they started to get hot, even my mom had a crush on Eddie - LOL

In their the concert DVD i have, Eddie chain smoked the entire show, kept the smoke at the top of the neck of the guitar in the strings....that plus the whiskey aged him big time...
