As a lot of you know I've always been an animal lover and support all local groups that fight animal cruelty,preserve wildlife etc..
I've had my golden retriever Jessie for the past 8 years and she certainly changed my life forever...taught me about unconditional love and was my best friend and companion...every day without exception. After developing some stomach ulcers recently and not being able to hold her food down anymore..she passed away yesterday. Apart from losing my dad over 20 years ago...i don't think there has been one single event that upset me more than this. I guess i never realized what effect an animal can actually have on human life...especially after being inseparable over all these years. As I walked into my house last night...it just somehow wasn't the same and it never will be! Through all my ups and downs...trials and tribulations..the only constant in my life has always been Jess..
I just thought I'd share this with you...thanks!

Roman, I am so sorry for your loss. Only people that have pets truly know and understand what it feels like to lose one.
Hang in there - it's tough right now but it will get better :icon_frown:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together,
but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent.
His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group,
flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face;
your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Gosh Roman, sorry to learn about your loss. Although I haven't had pets in years, I have enjoyed wonderful relationships with animals in the family in the past. I too totally understand how much it hurts when they pass. It's true - time does lessen the hurt.
