I'm a new member in Los Angeles, but I do not have a Prowler yet. I'm interested in getting a 2000-2001 (maybe 99) in any color. I'm not looing for a "collector" car with low miles. This will be a daily driver to get me to work. I was going bid on a Yellow 2000 with 20K miles on eBay for $28.9K because it is local and I look at the car and not deal with transportaion. However, after doing a CarFax check I found out it has had 4 previous owners. 2 in Ohio, 1 in Florida, and the current owner in Calif. 2 of the owners had the car for a year or less. Make me wonder why they sold the car after such a sort time.
Thanks to Dreamcast 18 for turning me on to your site.

 Welcome...Jordong!!!
Have you tried www.autotrader.com (http://www.autotrader.com) yet? That's where I picked up my 97 almost 3 years ago.
Good luck!

Allo Jordong!
Glad the directions worked out!
There's a good group of active local and greater LA folks here that can help you out if you need to check out a SoCal prowler:
1. 24K
2. Jim Des
3. Jim S
4. Orange
5. Scott
6. SkanKat
I think between these crazy bunch, there should be enuff knowledge to help u get a very good conditioned kat!
Otherwise, buy it somewhere else in the country and drive it back to LA!
Once you get your kat, you'll have to do every single mod listed on Pumpkin's website :devil

Make me wonder why they sold the car after such a sort time.
I think the Prowler is like any other collectable car. Some people lose interest in it possibly due to its value stabilizing...and not skyrocketing upward.
Others maybe buy one and realize they don't like it as much as they thought they did when they first bought it.
I personally think it's one of the COOLEST cars to hit the pavement!!!:tu:
Judging by the thumbsups and hundreds of smiles the Prowler gets when I'm driving it...I'm not alone.
One last item. You said you wanted it to be a daily driver. The car...like any other machine loves to be worked.
I purchased mine with 9,700 on it and I just turned 42,000 the other day. This is in a time span of almost 3 years! It truly hates to be in the garage.
Good luck again on your search!

TooHip's right on the mark. Once you drive one, u'll never forget the 1st smile on your face. I bought 2 Prowlers without test-driving them, granted that was because they were under Chrysler warranty and had only 1 previous owner.
However, if you find a Prowler that has a prowler owner close-by who can check it out for you, it will be for the best.
Another question you need to think about is the color of choice. My Black is a daily FAMILY driver. NO kiddin'. Scott makes fun of how much Meguair's detailer I use. If you hate cleaning, detailing and shopping carts, you might wanna look for a silver Honda Civic.
Lastly, mileage shouldn't be too much of a concern if you're looking for a daily. When we got the daily black driver, we went for a higher mileage one just cuz we know its not a garage queen and has not problems being driven daily.
Be weary sometimes of low prices. I found a 'woodward' for $29K @ Thousand Oaks. Upon inspection, it was in terrible condition, no Dr Ru signature and lodsa touch up paint every where.
My personal take is to look for cars from CA, AZ, NV and NM where it is dry. Lodsa Prowler folks there who can help you out too.
Good Luck!

Welcome. The number of owners shouldn't stop you. Take someone that knows Prowlers with you and give it a good look over.
I think that mine had 4 owners before me and I bought it in July of 05 when it had 9200 miles. Just ask anyone that has seen mine to guess how many owners its had. Mine now has 17K and I don't get many free days to drive it.
Brian's (ToohipCat) Prowler is better than showroom new looking (except for the drag slicks on back from all the miles, lol.) and as he stated, he has 42K on his.
It's not the # of owners or the miles on it. How it was treated during its ownership that counts.

Welcome Jordon...
You will have a blast here, and you don't have to own one to love the car....
I bought mine without ever driving it or even being in a Prowler....The thrill was one I'll always remember.
Looking back now, I realize it was a turning point in my life and I've never been happier....or deeper in debt for that matter.... but a freind always tells me " if your not on the edge, then your a waste of space"...
Miles of smiles... gotta love it !

yeah, they're so much fun. I bought mine without seeing it, and never having driven one. I was comfortable doing it because people knew the prior owner from POA ... having someone from the prowler family that cares about the car makes a difference. Mine was a 2002 that I bought in 2005 and I was 3rd owner, no big deal, it was like others stated. Prior owner just realized that the car wasn't right for him.
Buy one and enjoy it.

Thanks for the compliment Paul but I know where its flaws are and I'm not telling!:rll:
Paul is right when he mentioned that with any car...it's how it's been taken care of. Believe it or not...my commuter car...we bought brand new. A 1990 Toyota Corolla. It's just about ready to turn 245,000 miles. If you take good care of your vehicles...they will definitely last!!!
With the Prowler...Jordong...the car isn't for everyone!!!
I hope you find the right one.:tu:

Silver is good if you're thinking of a daily driver:

I'm new to the group but have been driving my Silver Prowler (springly) for six since I got it new in 2000. I am likely to sell it in the next couple of months, so I'm sorry to come to this so late.
I would like advice on what the market for this beuty is. I know California Prowlers are in a different bracket thatn the rest of the state (smog). The car is very well kept and has about 10,000 miles.

Welcome to our group....
We are here to help fans as well as owners so if you do sell your Kat, this can still be a great place for you to have fun.... I've been told that the Prowler bug never goes away.
I think prices have increased a bit over the past year, 2000's and newer getting a few more dollars than the 97's and 99's. If your car is in fine shape and completely stock you should be able to get around $34,000 without much trouble, maybe $35 if you find the right person. higher mileage ones run between 30-32,000....
these are just my observations....
good luck, post often...

All stock?
miles?
condition?
A low mileage ( > 20 k mi), all stock, mint cond. right now should fetch over $30k easy. I would start at $35 or $36K and see what happens.
You will miss it when it's gone!

Paul is correct,
most folks that sell.... usually get another one...
David is looking to buy a Prowler ... the bug bit him again..8-)

I believe every Prowler from 1999 is CA-certified.
You should be able to get above average prices because:
1. CA cars are typically rust-free
2. Higher demand for Prowlers
3. All-year driving in CA
