Krzy brought this to my attention as I have been exploring the chroming issue ....

please click the link to get the info regarding the chrome process they offer.

They will provide free demonstration of their product. If anyone can check this out to see if what they offer is of decent quality and report back their findings, that would be great.

Jim,
This looks like a smaller version of a process I worked on 10 or so years ago (I did the chemical, gas and process piping for all the equipment) in a local plant that developed this type of chroming. It was flexible and they applied it to plastic parts such as grills and moldings for the auto industry. Chrysler was one of the customers and at the time they were chroming the mini van grills and the sebring grills. The plant space that this took up was huge and the process was almost given up on because they had more defective than acceptable parts per day. Eventually they figured out the right amount of this and right amount of that and it worked out in the end. At one point they even were chroming thin plastic sheets for making the chromed trim on Nike sneakers.

Anyway, it is neat how that technology has gone from a process that took thousands and thousands of square feet and millions of dollars of equipment to a small garage type set-up.

Thank you for the great info Paul....

in the end its all about quality and cost....it would be interesting to see what the set up would cost...I'm sure there would be a demand for this product if the quality was there.

Jim, I just looked at it again and noticed that they also do a chrome paint (called Magic Chrome) like you were looking at a while back. They sell it in pint, quart and gallon.

Jim, as you can see from our new prowltalk googlemap, that's on opposite side of state from me. Probalby a 3 hour drive. Now if you were coming down, I might drive there for a visit, but just to check their plant out ...

anyhow, they said they got a complete DVD or videotape with their stuff, why not just ask for that for now ?? Unitl KK came up with his input, I was kinda thinking it was BS, now maybe its not.

The other products I looked at was by Alsa Corp. I found someone that had actually bought and tried the paint product ( Mirrachrome ). I spoke to them on the phone and they told me the finish was a touch better than silver paint and a real bitch to apply.. even by a professional shop. The other system Alsa sells looks like the same as this product and apparently provides a great looking chrome finish but is very expensive and training at the factory is a must.

I wouldn't mind a trip down to check it out but would have to get a passport to fly. i've heard that the waiting time for a passport now is about a month...
maybe someone closer that Randy will chime in...might be a good idea for a small business..

Thanks for the offer Randy....:tu:

That is right in Kendra's (PROWLER BABE) area. Perhaps she has someone she knows that is closer or would be interested in the process. Dixie Cat, how bout touchin base with her? We'll get this networked yet. Its about 81 miles from here. But, Halicat to answer the topic question, yes there is someone in Flor-a-Duh.:rll: :rll:

Hello Jim, I live rather close to Clearwater and could check them out for you. I noticed the training classes are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings and I am only in that neck of the woods on Fridays so it wouldn't be feasible for me to attend. I could give them a call and see if I could drop in on a Friday and see what it's all about. Please let me know if you would like me to get you some info.

Thank you everyone for the assistance.....

Kendra,

I'm going to order the dvd and give them a phone call so I can get a opinion of what the quality is like on the finish product. What i was looking for is someone that can check out first hand, the before and after look. Is the finish product of superior quality ? DVD's, pictures and sellers opinions can sometime be missleading. It would be great to get an eye witness to the quality. Don't go out of your way to do this, if its handy and no trouble that would be great.

now I know why you Kat Pack people are such a tight knit group.... you guys are an awesome team.

Thanks everyone !

Any information that you can gather would be great...
