We have begun exploratory planning for a Keys event this fall for all FL Kat Pack members and anyone else hardy enough to be able to stand the awful heat in early November! LOL! . The dates would be Nov. 4-7, 2010. The event will start in Homestead/Florida City and end in Key West with a bunch of stuff to see and do. Greg and Veta Lawrence and myself will be gathering info on the particulars this coming weekend. If you are interested in a special event to the Keys in Nov, let us know so we can judge interest and see if it would be worth the trouble to plan further. November is a bad time of the year for me, Oct, nov, are two bad months for me.
We have plans to sail out of Miami on Dec 9th for a 4 day cruise. We would be back on the Monday after the 9th. we were thinking about taking a drive to Key West then. We would not have our Prowler but can stiil cruise with everyone. Think about that for a cruise.

FL Keys hotels rates are typically higher starting in December but also can be dependant on the particular property.

I wouldn't mind running down to key west for a day or two after the cruise either!!

Just got home yesterday from the Keys. Had a blast. Think I was sober 2 nights out of seven. Mike, don't rent a car, no place to park. I rented a scooter. That's all you need. Might be going back in Oct. for Fantasy Fest. Wild time!!!

We have just about finished the planning for the Key West Adventure. We'll start in South Dade at the Gold Coast Train Museum, a nice place to see and a plenty big parking area for the group to meet. From there we'll be traveling south for lunch and then end up in Key Largo. There, we will be boarding the glass bottom boat for a trip out to the reefs. Upon the return from the boat we will travel south again and arrive in Marathon for the night. Marathon will be our pivot point for 2 nights. Dinner at about 7PM in Marathon.
Saturday morning, we will travel again south to Key West and stay the day there, taking the Conch Train ride, having lunch, sightseeing and later dinner and sunset at the pier. After the sunset, we'll again travel back to Marathon for the night.
This all preliminary. The dates are not. Nov 5-7, 2010. Fantasy Fest is the weekend before and the 7th is an offshore boat race in Key West. Timing is everything. Meeting time at the Train Museum will be 11 AM on Nov 5th. We will have hotel information/reservation info by mid-August along with group rates on all the things we'll be doing.
I've received a few emails of those that may want to attend. Those wishing to attend, either send me your intention now or when we post the hotel info so I can start a list and keep you updated on the details as we get them.
Should be a great time to travel to the Keys and with a bunch of good people!
If you should have any questions, etc., email me at flkatpack@cfl.rr.com

OK everybody, Listen up and this is going to be a blast.
Seriously, I will post all the info on the resort booking, etc. on Sunday 8/8. Please book your room as soon as you can so that we can get the gang all in the same building.

Glass Bottom boat Friday afternoon in Key Largo
Drive down to Marathon on Friday early evening after boat ride

The day to roam around Key West on Sat

Thanks to all who have booked early. This helps with the planning. We have had to change the boat plans to another boat and at a reduced rate, so that is good.No park entrance fee and no parking problems.Still in Key Largo and only $19.35 per person tax included. Everything else is set. We have a logo for the event and I want to thank Jay Harris for his beautiful artwork on the logo. I'm sure you will like it as much as I do. I will explain later about being able to buy event shirts when I get a definite price on them and show them to you here on this forum.Again, if you book the room, send me an email at: flkatpack@cfl.rr.com so I can put you on the email list for further updates as the event approaches.
Stay tuned for more developments.....
