Unfortunately for me my sss muffler has gone bad.

I am looking at some options but wanted to try to find something that sounded as good as yours and with as much benefit of additional torque, any suggestions? What was the % of flow through, ie. 60%, 80%, 100%.

Send me an e-mail with that please as I am trying to get something order tomorrow and I check my e-mail regularly

Note: heard a rumor you are coming back with shimmers. i hope so as they are dearly missed (plus I think i will be needing an L pretty soon)

Hi Scott,

If you can't get the SSS then you can modify your stock muffler by drilling out the baffels and pulling out the insulation... I did it to mine and love the sound. If you need and help on this let me know....

Jim, pulling the baffles is a SMALL part of the sound difference compared with the SSS. The SSS also gave a little more power too. Just night and day with/wihtout, but i never ran mine without baffles and with SSS, Jay helped me do both things at same time down at his shop. A real gentleman :)

The SSS without baffles actually sounds better than the Borla. :tu:

I understand (from Scott Curtis), there are no baffles in the SSS.

Hopefully Jay will chime in and shed some light on this.

I believe KK is referring to the BAFFLES in the STOCK TIPS ;-)

FYI... the SSS was designed and manufactured exclusively for the Prowler as a direct bolt-on replacement without any cutting, welding or modifications to the vehicle... installed with simple hand tools in your garage. It was hand-crafted from 100% stainless steel, inside and out.

The design was a simple, yet innovative, utilizing two separate chambers (not baffles) to equalize the 120 degree firing pulses of the V-6... first the engine exhaust from both cylinder banks were mixed (equalized)... these "smooth" exhaust pulses then flowed into dual perforated tubes, wrapped in a ceramic acoustic blanket... then into the second chamber where the exhaust pulses were mixed (equalized) again, a final "smoothing" just prior to exiting into the OEM dual tail pipes.

Straight through design... well, sorta but with several innovative twists.

Not only did the SSS provide a unique (Sweet, Smooth) and distinctive (SASSY) sound, the original design concept, there were very desirable by-products as well... BOTH Horsepower and Torque were increased over the stock system which was verified by Third Party dyno testing... on the car... at the rear wheels... the real deal. These dyno results were documented, printed and posted for everyone to compare. However, during the 4 years the SSS was produced, there was NO OTHER definitive Prowler testing performed by ANY OTHER muffler manufacturer, therefore NO EQUAL performance comparisons could be made... just the usual advertising hype and exaggerated performance increase claims flourished.

The SSS was forced into retirement after the 2005 Hurricane Season destroyed my manufacturing partner's business operation. There are no plans to produce the SSS again.

For the many, many Prowler Owners who have and continue to enjoy the SSS, just remember it was a product conceived from my devotion and LOVE of the Prowler... a tribute to the American Hot Rod & Hot Rodder.

In closing, THANKS to ALL who supported the SSS and just a reminder that owning a Prowler is all about FUN, FUN, FUN... nothing else!!!

Sincerely, Jay

My system runs straight through,
Once i drilled out the baffels in the muffler, you could look right through one end and see out the other.
the Borla Carbon Fiber tips have no baffels at all, unlike the stock tips....

it sounds mean:burnout

the hole saw and the drill extensions cost less than $30... it was by far the best dollar for dollar mod I've done... and I like the sound better than the Borla Muffler..
