Hello All,

Have you ever needed to remove the dash top off of your Prowler?

When the Upholstery Guys removed it to wrap in Leather, I picked it up and brought it to my Custom Artist to add 'Real Fire" Paint.

I was surprised to see that the oval dash section that encompasses the gauges is molded to the dash top. I never would have guessed that!
I figured that color coded oval piece was a separate piece.

Well anyway...if you ever need to get it off, just pull hard and the clips will give and it will come off along with the dash top...

I believe the only way to get the instrument cluster, painted section, seperated from the top of the dash is to cut it off as it is one piece molded plastic. To prevent breaking the dash top while removing, pry each side out seperately about 2 and a half inches in from each edge of the dash. I protect the lower section with a towel and insert a wide blade screw driver into the dash seperation and gently pull toward you. This will release each side then with thumb and forefinger on the seperation on each side of the speedometer pull out toward you carefully.

Wow - didn't know it was that hard of a thing. Sounds like something that would be useful to have in a library with either video or photos.

A picture how-to library sounds like a great idea! Kinda like pumpkin's page but just all the other stuff and repairs too. Anyone know of any free programs or websites that would facilitate the project?

I remember seeing something like a wiki for porsche boxsters a few months back... It was simple but it would do the trick...

I've poped my dash off before and couldn't believe how easy it was... ...Pumpkin has some great instructions on his site...pull the dash out towards you about an inch then just lift up and remove. easy to do from the corners with the doors open..

Jim, is right. We have removed it numerous times, speaker replacement, dash rings easy job 10 minute job.
Here is what we do.

2. Push down at back of dash near windshield and have someone else pull on front of dash near left edge. When pulled out slightly, repeat on opposite side. Lift dash up slightly and remove from car.

One person can do it, but a person with small hands pushing down to release the tabs makes it real easy.
