I have no idea how many of you have seen this movie but I wanted to recommend it as a very informative production. I don't think you have to be a Democrat or a Republican, (or a Canadian) to recognize that the planet we live on needs some help. Al Gore makes some great points based on facts.
If you haven't seen it, you should... if only 10% of the predictions come true, then we need to get together and do what we can..
if not for us.. then for our children....

My wife and I saw it and liked it very much. It's the only movie I can recall seeing where the audience clapped at the end.
The one thing I thought detracted from the movie was Al Gore talking about his background. It seemed a bit like self-promotion.
Having said that, the message in the movie is very strong IMO. Having lived in Nepal and climbing in the Himalayan mountains and climbing Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, I saw the rapidly melting glaciers and snow pack.
According to recent scientific news here, the current weird weather is not due so much to global warming but rather to El Nino which will screw up weather patterns until March 07.
Having said that, from what I've seen at high altitudes of 16,000 - 20,000 feet, something dramatic does seem to be happening just in the last 15 years or so. I'm not a scientist but I'm convinced some of it is caused by human behavior. How much is part of nature's cycle I don't know, but changes are occurring.

Bob, you have seen it first hand....
Last winter the ground never froze here, the first time I ever recall that happening. in my job we service the construction industry... winter projects are planned around depth of frost that can get up to 5 ft. this year we have had one snow so far, and the ground has not frozen at all....the oceans have warmed up around our coast to the point where hurricanes are not hitting that cold water before coming ashore, so they are showing up full strength...
anyone else notice any significant changes ?

"anyone else notice any significant changes ?"
YES,,,,,,,,,,,its been colder than shit here since Thanksgiving Day!
Record blizzards in Denver,,,,,,,,,,,,,,snow on Pumpkin in southern N. Mexico. Move south if you want to freeze :-D
The world has been changing back and forth for thousands of years. Al Gore is full of crap! Libs are full of crap! Ozone loss is a hoax!
Its the end of the world,,I tell ya,,,the end of the world

Isn't it true that more people died from the heat in the southern US last summer than any previous year ?
I don't know if its true but I have heard this....
radical concept.... cold in winter , hot in summer..

Hell yes Jimbo,,,,,,,,thousands die here every summer crossing the border on their 100 mile walk to a new life,,,,crossing the desert in 120 heat,,without water. Aren't too smart of a group,,,I would say. What are they thinking,,,no water? I'm guessing it would be cheaper for our state to fly 'em free to Canada,,,,,to find work. That way,,,your society can handle the great influx of thieving, roaches we have been forced to put up with. Its time,, and good to share!!! FUN,,FUN,,FUN,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

30 - 35 years ago they were saying the earth was cooling and we were heading towards a new ice age. They all were worried on how we were going to keep everyone warm with the oil shortage (remember that scare too?). The earth has warmed and cooled many times over it's existence. We happen to be in the warming cycle right now. In another 30 -35 years they might be predicting that we went to far "fixing" the global warming and we have forced the earth to cool too fast. A 100 or so years is a speck of time in the life of the planet.
Too much money in research grants to be pocketed, this is my theory why it's such a big thing all across our college campus'. They need to sell the idea that we have to find the reason and a cure for this or what ever problem that is occurring so some foundation, government agency, etc, for money to fuel the industry of research labs and expeditions.
Final analysis: It's all about the money!

we'll probably get smoked by some big ass asteroid anyways....
Mother nature seems to always have a correction to issues caused by humans...
back in the 1400's the Black Death killed over 1/3rd of the worlds population...The Spanish flu in the early 1900's was another key event.Had this not happened, we would be suffering with a pretty drastic over polulation problem...
the more people we have , the bigger impact on the planet....
Mother nature is due to slap our ass...

Man's existance is but a mear speck on the history of the earth. The earth will survive and nature will correct the mistakes we have made and start over again. If it wasn't global warming/El Nino....it would be something else. It is just man's turn in the barrel. There will always be some doomsday prophecy and sooner or later with the law of averages, it will be true. When it is...just bend over and kiss your a$$ good-bye!

yeah, I'm not a full believer in the global warming, it is not scientic fact (scientist do debate the issue today) - and there's a cool book by my favorite author Michael Crichton called "State of Fear" that addresses this exact issue. Is global warming real ?? Maybe it is , maybe it isn't. But we're just specs here and the earth will do just fine with or without us. Can you imagine if we were here when whatever tragedy knocked dinosaurs off the planet? You know damn well someone would blame us for that one. Earth has been here so long that we don't know what cycle or changes it has or not. So is this Earth's natural progresssion, or our interference? Who knows.
