This is copied and pasted from a thread that was the very first of this sites history...the blue text is a quote from David from May of 2005 and the rest is what I have posted today...

Larry,
This site will only make it "if" the the people here make it work.. I'm one of these people with NO ANGLES... freedom is what this is about..lets face it the prowler is dead we have gone went over just about everthing you can think off but I have made life long pals from all over the world..the prowler might have been the common strat but it is way past that now....
No banning ,no deleting, NO DC police etc,etc...
I wanted to bring this up front again because it was true when this site started, and its true today 20 months later....
In May it will be 2 years for this site....not bad for a site that was only given a month to live by the know it all's....
there has been ups and downs....
last May David was debating shutting the doors... we were drying up... lack of participation. A few of us convinced him to stick with it and committed ourselves to making it work...AND WE DID !
The Calendar only brought a little over $400 revenue to the site but when it hit ebay.....we got instant credibility. The best part was that those in Camelot thought we stole THEIR pictures. This was a proud day.... and a new beginning.
The "other site" is passing the plate around again collecting star money.. they do it at least twice a year. The king apparently is a little short on chump change ...lol...
think about it... they have many paying vendors, they have a store, he has a tax write off in the museum, they have star money....and they still claim that the site loses money...
Prowltalk is not giving out stars....we are all equal here. Buying loyalty is a joke..... earning it is the key. David has paid for this site out of his pocket and has never asked for $.... I checked , not once.
lets show appreciation by participating, coming up with projects, being respectfull of eachother and having fun....
a million thanks David.. your the best !
and your right hand man.. Doug....

please, lets not beat up the "other"guys here on this thread...the high road we have been taking has been great... keep it up !

Thanks for posting it - great read !
Maybe someone should add why Prowltalk was "founded" - no need for negativity or bashing the other site - just the facts.
Just my opinion...

This would be something David would have to do... he knows the entire story, all the details, and he would be the one that would take all the grief ( hate mail ) for putting it out for all to read...
legally, it would have to be somewhat general and not name names....

I understand and completely agree. With only 2 Prowler-Sites it's probably difficult to not name names - maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all.
It would just be a good way to educate the "newbies".

I think its a great idea....
but maybe the story should start...
"once upon a time".....

Oh, so more like this:
Once upon a time there was a king and a queen ...

Damn Jim, that's a good idea. I think I'll try that. Here's just a sample off the top of my head, and tell me what you think ....
Once upon a time there was a society that had a love for cats. Everyone in this township either wanted one of these cats or at least had a profound love or them. These were not your ordinary house cats, they were large beasts that had a beauty and splendor that was very unique. The township enjoyed each others company and regularly met to express their love for their cats and what they could do to make their cats even more enjoyable. It was a very happy time and everyone got along great. Then one day there was one of the governor decided that his love for cats was greater than anyone elses. He had recently won a large sum of money in a poker game and started buying more cats than one person could enjoy. Additionally he started to tax all the townspeople for being in the community that loved the cats. After a while, he announced that he would be grand pouba of the town and that he and he alone would have the final say on what you were and were not allowed to do in the nice little village.
Well - that wasn't very good, but you can see the angle. That was just a 2 minute write, but I think I could have fun with it.

Man, you are good....:tu:
now if we could fit in a court jester, a witch, and a man with no balls into the story we would have a great start.....don't forget the rulers magical powers to make some dissapear...
The NEW Prowltak Childrens Story Book....

OK - yeah, give me ideas on it and I'll find some spare time to write it up.
Maybe an index of even real events and I'll make them into a "once upon a time" type theme. And names for the characters too would be good.
