Pompano Chamber of Commerce to host Scenic A1A” Car Show & Cruise-In Night
> Posted by pmp123 on November 10, 2009 at 1:16 PM

In an effort to help bring more people to Pompano Beach (http://mypompanobeach.org/), the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce (http://www.pompanobeachchamber.com/) is teaming up with the Community Redevelopment Agency (http://www.mypompanobeach.org/cra/index.html) and Pompano Beach to host a Scenic A1A Car Show & Cruise-In Night.
The joint-effort lasts from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday in the parking lot in front of the Pompano Beach Pier on A1A. The event will feature various vintage cars as well as oldies music and door prizes (http://blogs.trb.com/community/news/pompano_beach/forum/2009/11/pompano_chamber_of_commerce_to.html#) and a raffle. All vehicles (http://blogs.trb.com/community/news/pompano_beach/forum/2009/11/pompano_chamber_of_commerce_to.html#) are invited to car show with a $3 fee per car or $5 if the vehicle (http://blogs.trb.com/community/news/pompano_beach/forum/2009/11/pompano_chamber_of_commerce_to.html#) is for sale. The event and opportunity to view the classic cars is free.
The event will be on the third Friday of every month as a way to bring more people into Pompano Beach. For more information, call 954-410-5536.

Check out Crabby Jack's in Pompano Beach on Federal Highway to see if they are still hosting the Sunday afternoon car shows. We used to attend often.

the real estate buys right now are amazing. if you would like, pm me your address and i will pick up some homes magazines and send them to you... cape coral is one of the country's highest foreclosure cities. many folks who were speculating on rising market prices and bought second homes are letting them go. i have seen homes less than 5 years old with pools go for 80k... three years ago they wer nearly 300k.

Plenty of bargains available in Cape Coral too but not sure I would want to invest in any real estate there. What do you think of that area Ed?? I've also seen tons of homes in the Bonita Springs area.

FYI: You can order the "Real Estate Book" for any area they serve online and they usually arrive within a couple of days after requesting them (free of charge the last time I ordered one) from this link.;-)

cape coral was the hot spot for the past few years. close to the gulf and beaches, plenty of shopping. but as the construction boom went on, the local government got stupid with spending and taxes. at one point, it was reported that it took 8 months to get a building permit.

now they are reeling with a tide of foreclosures and prices have plumeted. its a nice looking area, and the buys are amazing.

Bonita springs is also very nice, perhaps a bit more spendy.... all depends on what you are looking for. having lived in a "gated community" for the past 24 years, i wanted nothing to do with the pretentious nature of another one. i opted for an older neighborhood, but on the water so i could have my boat down here someday.

i do love it down here, and am looking forward to the day i can move here permanently.

Thanks Ed for the info. I also heard the same about Cape Coral from a FL friend who says the area was overbuilt by developers during the boom and now the area is overwhelmed with foreclosures etc.

I know well what you are saying about living in gated communities (:nono:) but finding an area without one in FL or without a HOA is often impossible.

Thanks again and ENZVOY.... apologies for sidetracking your thread. ;-)
