Just received this email receipt for something I never purchased....

It has been reported and confirmed to be a fraud... here is a hint... they tried to get my password by putting a "Dispute Transaction" button on the receipt, this is an attempt to get you to log in and give them your password.......NEVER give your password on an email reply...log in to the site where it is secure...

Dear PayPal Member,

This email confirms that you have paid LWPELECTRONICS (sales@lwpelectronics.com) $474.99 USD using PayPal.

This credit card transaction will appear on your bill as "PAYPAL LWPELECTRONICS*".

I have had these as well. I just go to PayPal and verify my account. I never click on the link in the e-mails.

I get junk like that all the time, they say there from PapPal and Ebay also.
Get the letters from people in Bum_uck Egypt wanting to give 100-300 million dollars just because they like me.
I'm still broke!

If you use IE 7 it has SOME built in protection against these Phishing attacks

ALWAYS ALWAYS type the address in yourself

or use your favorite - NEVER use links in money related email

it was something about containing 19 symbols and I was only allowed 12 per thread... didn't make any sense to me...but I worked around it.

update on the paypal issue....

I messed around with my paypal acnt changing the password and deleting my credit card off the acnt just in case it got hacked....

I found out the if the paypal acnt doesn't have a credit card on file then any purchases are not immediatly paid, but that the payee will have to wait for an e-check that can take up to 12 days...

this caused me to lose an item on ebay because the Vendor wanted the money immediatly and before I could fix the problem, the item went "buy it now"........

oh well live and learn... thought i'd pass this on in case someone else comes across this problem..
at least I still have my 100% feedback rating
