I'm seriously thinking about the wheels and tires and was wondering if it would be a good idea to mail the sensors from the stock wheels here out to Vancouver to install in the new wheels before they are shipped to me.... other than a couple of glitches they have worked very well for the past 2 1/2 years....
anyone know what the going price for the new ones would be if I decided to replace them all...?

I don't know, but I do recall someone on POA talking about that. There were even aftermarket ones, and perhaps that guy that had all that new prowler inventory has them too.

it would suck if I had to keep taking the tires off the wheels to attend to old sensors... but i think they are around $100 each new..... maybe i should just leave them off and tape the warning light...
or put the old ones on and then tape the warning light...lol

I like the warning light - think its nice so that you don't shread a tire. If you are considering not replacing with new, I think I'd at least go with the old ones :?:

My sensors have not worked for over two years now. At the time I was buying them they were around $110.00 each here in PA. I figure it is no different from any of my other collector cars, none of them have sensors either and I manage to keep those tires inflated, but I agree it is more maintenance without them. I have been told that the sensors have a life of 5-8 years including shelf life. Sooner or later, the NOS ones will be no better than the ones in the wheels. I taped the light and forgot about them.

Jim, contact the tire or wheel suppliers that you are dealing with and get a quote on new aftermarket sensors. I think the aftermarket ones are very affordable if I remember right. I may be wrong but I think the local tire outfit here told me around a hundred bucks for the set (?), I can't find the quote he gave me from around a year ago. Make sure to ask if they can set them up so you don't have to go to DC to do it.
If you don't want to have the sensors, the control module is behind the dash panel just behind the tach. I believe I read you can unplug this to disarm the chime and the light. I can't confirm this though as I haven't done it myself.

That means mine probably don't have much life left... I carry an inflator and a plug kit because i'm using non-runflats.....
sounds like I'll chance the old ones and go with the tape... I was thinking about using black pin stripe tape on everything except for the "o" in "low" anyways. mine sometimes come on on the cold mornings unless I warm up the car for 5 minutes before I drive it. they must reset themselves after a few minutes.... works every time
I'm using the "Dave plan"... :)
