Had a call from my credit card Fraud Protection service. They wanted to verify some recent charges to my credit card. Turns out some asshole charged an online call with skype.com to my credit card.
I'm very careful where I use my card and had this card for over ten years - never a problem.
The credit card company is going to cancel the charge and will issue me a new credit card.
I'd like to get my hands on that bastard and kick the crap out of him !

Been There!
Had a card ten years ago that they bought about 3 grand of stuff before I got notified. They fixed it all but I never used the new card or the company again. Last year I got hit again for about 2 grand with another card. They canceled the card & charges but it sure makes you wonder if they ever catch the A**h#les.

Well, you could've bought Rebecca something nice then at least .
As far as I know you can make phone calls with skype.com using your computer at no charge in some cases.
The person you're trying to call has to be signed up as well and if you have a webcam you can talk to the person face to face... or something like that. I've never used it so I'm not 100 % sure on how it works.

Well, in my case it was only $ 18,- and I was surprised the credit card company would check up on a small amount like that.
But still, fraud is fraud and I wish they would catch these bastards !

Hopefully that's all that was charged. I friend of mine had someone charge $1.00 just to see it it went thru - then the ass holes charged a couple thousand dollars for airline tickets to some other country. That's when the Credit card company called and asked if it was her charge. - Jerry how have you been paying for your trips to China??? :smflame: :smflame: :smflame:

Several years ago I was victimized by ID theft, and it was a nightmare to get straightened out. I now subscribe to Equifax ID Patrol for $15/Mth and they monitor my SS#, credit/debit cards, and bank account. I sleep much better at night...

experienced the same thing and didn't notice it cause it was small charges every month. Then I realized what was going on and called and asked them to stop any charges. I went to the bank and had them stop payment to that account. I fianlly had to claim credit card fraud and then I had to cancel my card and this was the only way to keep them from charging my card every month. almost 2 years went by at a charge of about 25 a month. That company was AOL.

I received a phone call from AMEX a month ago because one of their employees stole account info on a company laptop of 30k users and all the cards had to be changed... caught in the early stages but still sucks because what other info can they steal...

My credit card company called after the one dollar charge and then we looked thru charges - and there were 5 other small charges I never made - they were just testing the credit card before the big charge

Fifteen years ago,,,I had a unknown $500 withdrawl from my checking account. Notified the bank,,,and 10 days later they contacted me saying they had credited the $500 back to my account, but wouldn't give me any further info. My branch mgr. later told me, off the record,,,,, it was a employee at the check clearing location who was stealing money via withdrawls.
Four or five months ago,,,,I had a Visa statement show up in the mail > intact, but the glue flap had never been sealed when mailed. Since my full acct. number was inside on the pages,,,,I notified the credit card company explaining what had happened, and to watch for any large purchases on my account. Within days, I was informed that many statements had went out that way, and they cancelled that number and re-issued another card right away.

Just happened to me this morning. Got a call from our bank's security/fraud department to verify some recent charges. Had one for $2.96 from Elitepack. IT turns out they are nothing but a scam company and has endless complaints for unauthorized charges. :smflame::smflame:

My best advice to all of you...........call your homeowners insurance agent, ALOT of home insurance policies are now offering ID Theft protection coverage!
It is VERY INEXPENSIVE to place the coverage on your home policy! So much cheaper than the protection the credit card companies charge!
So very well-worth it!!!!
MissKitty, sorry you had to encounter this ordeal. Thankfully it was discovered before HUGE damage was done. Typically, this is the time of year ALOT of bogus crap takes place. All at the expense of others! (Tis the season).
