Two men and a woman were arrested in New Castle Friday after police responded to a report that two men were fighting in the street with knives.
Police recovered two folding knives from suspects William E. Elliott, 38, and Tyrone C. Dausch, 26, who were both charged with battery with a deadly weapon, Class C felony, disorderly conduct and public intoxication, Class B misdemeanors.
Dausch suffered the only knife wound in the struggle, police reported, though both men had abrasions from the struggle. He was jailed after treatment at Henry County Hospital.
Becky McCormick, who lives on the 300 block of Park Avenue, where the fight occurred, said she first heard the men arguing in her neighbor's backyard. A short time later, she said, she saw them swinging knives at each other in front of the house.
Dausch was bleeding heavily from near his armpit, she said. "When he raised his arms up, you could see the blood running down his side," she said. The men separated once police arrived.
Kimberly S. Piercy, 42, is accused of giving a knife to one of the men as the fight unfolded. She's charged with aiding in the commission of battery with a deadly weapon, Class C felony, false informing and public intoxication, Class B misdemeanors.
She told police the men had been arguing for a couple days before the fight broke out. All three suspects were heavily intoxicated, according to police.
