I left my kat at my daughters house for a few days. Well today she called and said that there was a clear sticky puddle under the car. My question is...could that be that signs of a leaking shock? If so would it hurt to drive it about 175 miles home. Lastly would an extended warrant cover that? I looked at my policy and couldn't find anything listed.

Driving no sweat, the warrenty deal really depends who and what you got with it, if the warrenty is a factory one I would say no worries.

How big is the puddle?

mine leaves a small puddle of water under the firewall on the passenger side when the weather is hot... its condensation from the heater core....i would suggest a taste test to confirm that it is not dog pee...

seriously.. if its sticky it could be hydraulic fluid from the shock.. taste it to find out for sure...

ThanksI'll call her on the taste test. I am sure she won't mind. I have the 7 year 50000 mile DC warranty. Not sure on the puddle size...again I'll ask.

Size really doesn't matter, she should be fine and you ain't the first. It is under warranty.

Gary, looking at my DC policy, shocks are not listed. Am I missing something?

Also the puddle is gone as my anal son-in-law already cleaned up the mess. Actually I would have done the same thing. lol

The puddle was by the front wheel on the drivers side.

Yes they should be, I remember reading it somewhere, you have the Max care? Then it should be covered especially with the past history of many owners having the same problem.

When I get the car back I guess that's when I'll find out.

Jan and I are going to Vegas and LA from the 17th to the 28th. May not get it done before then, but will advise.

Worse case...any idea on the cost on a shock? Labor $?

On me.....

Less than 300 for a shock. Of course that's discounted, about $450 retail

Ouch...That could be at least $600.00 plus for the shocks , (even with the discount) plus the labor. Sure hope the policy covers them.
