Even Apple who's trying to make their own GPS app for iPhone is F-ed.

haven't u heard? Google's guise of a Non-Evil Constitution = WORLD DOMINATION.
Google is simply a new Micro$oft.
killing the competition by giving it away...then charging later for it -> 'dumping' a product and wiping out the competition = EVIL.
Any dominant company will stifle innovation. Remember how Internet Explorer became dominant because M$ 'gave it away'? the domination allows M$ to set alot of M$-specific standards on the web (not a good thing)
Don't get me wrong...Google have an amazing GPS product that will blow everything outta the water - that said they are just as vicious as M$ was in wiping out the competition (without looking 'bad'). But mostly I hate it that Google sells itself as non-evil and working for everyone when they ARE not.

True..but consider this scenario:
1. Google decides to go into TV advertising (they already own radio ad companies)
2. With their $$$ and clout, they manage to buy a TV maker in China to make GoogleTV (30" HDTV) for $100 cost each.
3. Each TV comes with a connection to the web to send info to Google and also push Ads, TV show info etc (some kick-ass TV watching application).
4. They then give away the GoogleTVs FREE to everyone who wants one.
5. With that, they can put out of business the following:
TV makers
TV retailers
Nielsen company (TV ratings)
6. And they now control TV Ad revenue...and more.
Would you consider this 'real' competition? Now, you're gonna say this is not possible - but think about the cell phone companies..they give away cell phones (with a contract)...Google will be able to do so..and better at it too (somehow).
In short, what I'm saying is that Google wants to DOMINATE in EVERYTHING and they now have the size to do so - and they are doing it VERY VERY well.
p.s. in short...buy some Google stock

now...the question is whether to short Apple stocks for the next quarter..Dell is going to release an Android phone soon...once the market is flooded with cheap Google Android phones - Apple will have a hard time staying ahead in their results.
BTW, M$ is a BUY. Windows 7 and Server 2008R2 is gonna rake in $$$$$$ for them this quarter. Pent up demand this week has been crazy. If it lasts thru the next month...bingo.
ok, enough analyst talk for now...this is a car forum

sounds like Google is doing to the gps industry what Obama is trying to do to the health insurance industry. give it away so cheap it puts everyone else out of business and then they have you.
