Have you ever ridden a train? Where were you going?

chicago to washington DC back in 1968..... only commuter trains since then.. i actually like the concept of taking trains for long travel but the costs is simply too prohibitive when compared with flying. just another example of the government screwing things up.. trains are soo heavily subsidized by tax $$$$$$$ that they have let their costs escalate to rediculous levels...

Lots of commuters over the years. Three or four different steam excursion trains at different locations. A couple trips to Pittsburgh in the 50's on the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Some that I recall:

That tourist railroad in Strasburg, Pa. (the Strasburg RR, actually). Got
pushed 4.5 miles then pulled back in vintage wooden passenger cars
by a live steam engine.

The "Tubes" over to NYC on a few ocassions.

NYC subway(s), some how getting over to Shea Stadium (then home
of the NY Mets).

The White Pass & Yukon in Alaska (now a tourist RR).

The old New York & Long Branch out of Newark, NJ down to
Point Plesant (Jersey shore).
